Just leaving is nothing I would consider at all, as long as your job is not flipping burgers. The norm/law in Norway is the next 3 full calendar months outside the "trail period" - within, normally a month. And it goes both ways. Yes, you might be put on garden leave if you quit, but you are still being paid. And considering the planning and training of a replacement, 3 months isn't always enough. I am glad I am not an American employer.

I am voting electronically this year in the Norwegian election. If somebody is stupid enough to give me money for voting for a certain party, then let them. I can vote as many times as I want, and it is only the last vote that counts. If I want to be even more evil, I can vote by paper as well, and let the guy paying money to see me vote on the net be there until the end. The paper vote superseded the electronic one.

Counting the money before you open is standard procedure when you're not the only person using the register. I do this every time I am tending bars. It is also not difficult to keep control of the change you give back. I have never had a negative difference in my register, and the positive is tips I leave in the register when we're short of any type of coins. By the way, we're one of those small businesses in Norway that would have to cash out for something we do not need.

You obviously haven't used Notes since the 90's when outlook was non-existing. The company I work for switched from Notes to a MS-solution a couple of years ago, and I hear more and more of the users wanting to go back to it! An MS based solution with Exchange and Sharepoint might be easier to set up for the sys-admins, but for users, domino is a far better choice! It just works a lot better and the systems are more integrated with each other.
