The comments say a lot about the site readership. Slashdot trends better on average, I think a reflection of that fact that many people on here have taken time to educate themselves about life in general, beyond just their careers.
OTOH, I am always appalled at WSJ on how badly thought out the comments tend to be.
The other phenomenon I see is that for enthusiast sites for autos, watches, etc., the comments tend to all come from the same few people with thousands of posts.
Some people (like myself) use different transportation on different days. I'm pretty organized and careful, but there are plenty of times I show up to work without my fob because it's on my other key ring, or in my "bike gear" backpack and I drove today, etc.
I've said in the past that I would volunteer to get the chip if it were ever available, but that was easy talk when I knew that it was not. Now that I could actually do this, I have to admit I would think about it carefully. A lot of potential to go wrong here.
Many years ago (like late 70's, early 80's) Radio shack was a place you could walk into, browse electronic components, and talk to and meet knowledgeable people to help with home brew projects. Then they expanded like hell, employed stupid corporate business policies like charging people to pay for store catalogs, ridiculous "i need all your personal info" so I can sell you a resistor, etc.
Haven't been in one of their stores in probably 20 years, surprised that it took that long for them to fail. In retrospect, they were so poorly managed, they weren't even good at failure.
Good riddance (and yes, I'm still pissed about the time you assholes tried to charge me money to send me a catalog of your stuff!!)

Ethicist should weigh in. If robots have no sentience, they would not know that killing was different from any other task. As creatures who value self-preservation (most of us anyway) we don't kill because we don't want to be killed. I assumed always that our self-preservation came about because we have consciousness. A robot without self-awareness could follow a rule but would not have any internal feelings about that rule. Without those feelings, rules alone won't work. Philosophy majors take over this discussion...
1) No concrete evidence that a Sovereign County hacked into Sony, but POTS says he thinks they did anyways
2) Movie is probably total piece of sh*t anyways, who cares?
3) Even if NK did it, it is not an attack on US but a foreign corp with some US holding, but still a Japanese company, why don't they saber rattle instead of us?
4) The whole thing could have been PR stunt from Sony to advertise the movie
5) Why didn't POTS just tell Sony "get your sh*t together, improve your security - tired of this crap, dayum!"
I've been driving for a few decades and have seen many serious injuries and fatalities, but not a single serious injury or corpse in a rear-end crash...
You've never driven in heavy stop-n-go traffic on the freeway in SoCal then. I have seen cars so smashed you could not tell what the make or model of the vehicle was; sadly I saw a fatality just this summer, a mother and her kids on I-5; people just don't realize that drivers will slow and change lanes to take the exit at Camp Pendleton Traffic will back up there all the way up to the freeway lane.
Not sure why you want to believe that a rear-end accident is nothing to worry about.
Exactly, if NK had half a brain, they would realize that Seth Rogen movies are on a pretty steep downward trend. Let it die, and look on with a little smugness, a little pity.
Also, Umm, Sony? could you do more to be idiots when it comes to security within and without your business groups?
I have GG. Battery life is so poor as to make these pretty useless for every day. I have never gotten more than 4 hours of use out of these.
Maybe there is is highly specialized use for hands free imaging for some people, but thinking that you will have hands free use of your cell phone for texts, emails, calls etc. is totally wrong.

We still have them in North County. Vista is notorious for them, especially around the courthouse on Melrose.
