The people who modded that post Troll and mod you Off-Topic are basically the worst kind of people on SlashDot, the TrollMods, or Trods. It's what happens when most everybody gets a chance to express their opinion/vote. just like in the presidential races, there's always going to be some dipshit who writes in Mickey Mouse, or votes for the White Power party du jour. They're so excited about actually having some sort of power over someone else's outcome that they can't handle it. But, as you and I see, the adults came over and rectified the issue. Doesn't always work out the right way. But then again, no system is perfect.

  16. Hate to say it... on ISPs Experiment With Broadband Download Capping · · Score: 1

"Interestingly enough, there is no set limit, but just a subjective limit of 'more than the average user.'"

I hate to say it, but this really is completely fair. Of all the utilities where your usage affects your neighbors/fellow clients of Provider X, none is just given away unlimited for a flat rate/month.

The way this was phrased made me think of time-based caps, based on average usage per user per hour or half-hour or whatever; caps based on this would be much more fair than a 24-hour cap. And honestly, I'd rather get capped than get random harassing "You used too much." letters. My upstream is already capped, as is that of most people. If they want me downstreaming less, cap me, or stfu.

I am DEEPLY disturbed with your latest decision/practice to typosquat, and I hope you will reconsider. It is extremely arrogant to think that you, as a corporation, have a right to do this. Any page sent on request for a non-existing domain should represent ALL of that TLD's registrars or NONE. As it stands, this is equivalent to all wrong numbers dialed *anywhere in the world* getting a message from a Pennsylvania phone company. It's global hijacking, plain and simple, and I hope the backlash will teach you an obviously much-needed lesson.

To elaborate: the colors are, from lowest to highest frequency, commonly referred to as the ROY G. BIV scale, or Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet. Light is actually a radio wave, and your eyes are directional antennas. (Cool, huh?) Technically, any radio waves below red are "infrared" and any above violet are "ultraviolet," but there are other segments such as X-Rays, Radio Waves, UHF, VHF, etc. But it's all the same stuff. :)
