I signed up for the LinuXFund credit card. A (small) portion of the purchase goes to the fund,
and they find projects that people submit for funding!
Ten years ago or so, I ended up doing the United Way thing, after telling myself I'd send a check to Boy Scouts, and a year later I hadn't, so I signed up for payroll deduction!
I had gone home at lunch that day, hoping to see the launch on TV. Nothing but soap opreas! Called a couple local TV stations to ask, 'are you showing the launch'? Answer = NO! A couple of hours later, the radio at work announced the
explosion. For the next two days TV didn't STOP
showing that!
Most good size cities (I'm in Dallas ) have a 'sidewalk' sale (swap meet) monthly. I see Sparc
10,20 regularly. I haven't inquired about price,
but it's always negotiable.
The North Texas LUG had the president of Loki speak, Scott 'somebody' sorry, no offense, I have
'CRS'! A great presentation, and who would admit
to NOT liking games!
The way the International Space Station (ISS) has been going, makes me wonder what its' future looks like! NASA has been (still is) pumping money to the Russian Government for years (2?)! Delays, overruns, "well lets deploy the module without the debris shields, put 'em on later," read more cost!
But now it looks like a couple of cosmonauts will be heading up, NO PROBLEM!
I won't be surprised when ISS hardware is docked to mir.
I kinda expected this, and I think the US gov knows to 'some' extent. But, it needs to be said, you know, most are happy with the propaganda they hear.
I really agree! I was gonna e-mail this guy, but he probably doesn't care. I started usin' LinuX to learn, and it can make you learn (Slackware). Now, I think that it is good to learn, but there is the percentage of people not interested. And they (Windows users) aren't AWARE they'll have to learn. They can have my LinuX when, they can pry it from my cold, dead hands.
I think you're right! And I'm not 15, I was 40 when I started Slackin'(3 yrs now). If you didn't learn DOS, you might think a folder ISN'T a sub- directory. It not really that hard, you just have to learn stuff. Congratulations, Keep on truckin'
I second this motion!! Severe Bummer! Listening to multi-billion dollar corp. execs sound like they found this money under a rock is truly intertaining!!
My worthless view is most (business) users don't know and, don't care how the box works. Just get my work done for me! I'm an electronics/laser technician. I'll 'do' my own brake jobs. They can have my GNU/LinuX when, they can pry it from my cold dead hands! Hell, I like hockey and football! But call me a geek, who cares, call me anything but late for supper! And Re: the article, I think gaming will help. If you get young people into 'it' they won't even know they're geeks! Way cool!
I heard the 'NEW' Wiz98 will spot a box on the (home) LAN and configure it for gateway/firewall! Woh! Will those guys' every stop inovating? And having run a subnet for over a year now, on my Linux boxes, lets me know that M$ is ever vigile! But, I still think they blow dogs!
I Agree! 'When' glibc is in Slack I'm goin' that way! I just like the stuff. Slackware is what I learned on ( and am learning), and I find it easier that RH. Call me sick, most do, but I keep Slacking.
Way to go Jon! Go find the ppp-on script(/usr/doc /ppp-* in RedHat), change permission (chmod +w ppp-on), and vi or emac it. Near the bottom is debug,lock,defaultroute,/dev/modem : 38400. and at top is the phone # and name/password. I fought it for months(I'm dense) and the spaces between...modem : 38400 were my prob. Then cp to/usr/sbin. And as root (su) run ppp-on.
Right Arm Dude! Power to the persons!?! No, really I like Slack. I learned on it and am just more comfortable with it. And yea, RedHat is EASY to install.

You mean the DON'T pass thru Tech?

This 'wing set' should brighten the ISS considerably. It IS already visible with
the 'naked or unassisted' eye, I've seen it
about 6 times so far!
And this visibility is only when the sun reflects
off of it, i.e. just after sundown/before sunup.
It looks WAY cool!!!!
And now, more to the point, NOT MICROSOFT!
HA HA!

I e-mailed ASUS and one other Mobo maker asking this question. I got one reply, 'nothing in the works right now'. About two months ago.
Where's the green card!
But seriously, the childs father is responsible for ALL that happens to him.
It's a big word, 'RESPONSIBLE' but overlooked FAR too often.
This is great! You could add: risk of FIRE in the
human quarters!

"Off soapbox: submit"
XFree86 4.0 and LinuX 2.4 kernel on the horizon,
what a wonderful world!
Are you implying Microsoft deserves hamster crap
on them? Is this in response to the crap they
put on us? Right-On!

I agree. IMHO RedHat install IS easier than
Wiz9x. It was reported on slashdot, somebody
installed RH 5.1(?) with his nose!
Chill out Dude!
Great service you have here, for the people!
Keep up the good work! Thanks!
