Problem: A seller is getting his mate to bid against something you're trying to buy? Solution: Hide the names of the buyers
Problem: Buyers are giving sellers negative feedback even though the exchange was fair and square? Solution: Don't allow sellers to give retaliatory negative feedback
Problem: Someone's found out about the fact you're a bunch of crooks and has posted all the evidence in a forum? Solution: Delete the posts and claim it was a bug
As much as I'd like to see a woman or a (excuse the wording) black man in the White House, because it'll do the world as a whole a lot of good, I really don't think the slagging match that the Democrats are having is doing them any favours. Showing Obama wearing a turban (I think it was a turban) and making racial slurs is not a good way to win votes at election time.
I don't know how Vista's activation works, but I imagine that you only have to type it in once. Surely they could have just asked the user to type in the key on the back of the DVD / CD case, and if they don't have a DVD / CD then to contact their OEM. Works for me.
Unless of course Microsoft have done this on purpose to get more copies on Vista on the desktop...
I want to patent my idea first: It's a method of crippling a system's CPU using only a few lines of code. I'm not going to write it here obviously though, because otherwise someone will beat me to the chase.
Surely they'll have to prove what is it that I'm downloading? As I've already pointed out in another post, my ISP has blocked BitTorrent. I can't download Ubuntu now without beating the crap out of the server. If I encrypt BitTorrent, then I'm able to download the free and legal software that I'm entitled to.
I can see my ISP's point, but they're making my life difficult.
My ISP, Pipex, has already blocked me from using BitTorrent. At first I thought it was just a problem with the server, but when I couldn't download a single Linux distribution I started getting suspicious.
I've fixed it now, but I'm not impressed that Pipex see BitTorrent as a cancer that needs to be cut out, and if anything innocent goes with it, then that's OK because it's for the greater good.
for shows like Prison Break, Ugly Betty* and Lost? Will their seasons just end as they are or will they just have a little hiatus and continue the season in a few weeks?
*obviously I don't watch the show, as charming as it is. I'm asking on behalf of others
Hotmail renders badly with Firefox for me. The font is too big the first time I log in. Refreshing the page fixes this but it's quite annoying. It only happens on the Linux build too.
The point is moot though since I only use Hotmail when I'm signing up for a forum or a competition. I really don't want my email filled up with fake lottery emails and rubbish written in (what appears to be) Spanish.
Underling: "President Bush, Iran still isn't offline!" Bush: "Dammit, Osama, what the fuck am I paying you for?" Bin Laden: "Sorry Sir, I'll get right on it" Elvis: "And get it right this time!"
The problem is though that who's really at fault at the end of the day, Amazon for trying to apply for the Patent or the Patent office for allowing it?
It's like the loophole I found when I was in Game a few months ago:
"£9.99 please" "But it says it's half price" "No, it's only half price when bought with something else" "Oh... so if I buy two of these then I get them both for less than the price of just one of them?" (Realising the problem) "...yeah... yeah you would actually" "OK, I'll be back in a minute"
The problem is, that when everyone else does it, it's quite cool. When Microsoft does it, I get the same cringing feeling that I do when watching one of my parents dancing.
True, but doing it my way means you get some exercise and fresh air.
Granted, if you drive or use public transport you probably won't get much exercise. And if you live in the city then it'd probably be better for you to stay inside.
Plus I have to spend money.
Shit, your way's much better. I'm going to do that instead from now on.
In my local HMV, they have 1/3 of a disc rack dedicated to HD-DVD and nearly two racks for Blu-Ray. The only thing which is really stopping it from taking off is that each disc costs between £20-£30 ($60 to most of you), but I think that's probably what DVDs cost when they first came out. Also note that each PS3 sold (granted, they're not selling *that* fast) is another potential Blu-Ray customer.
will my screen reader work? For all MS knows, I have limited vision and therefore use a screen reader to aid me. Will it work in Silverlight? No. Will I have to buy a new screen reader from them just to access their crappy site? Yes.

What happens when we run out of air!??!??
It comes with an emergency air supply in the form of a very hot curry and 4 tins of baked beans.

They are trying to soften the blow by offering "streamlined" services for frequent travelers but the end result seems the same
Translation: we want Americans to know what it feels like when we try and enter their country.
Just a quick note, The IT Crowd is on Channel 4, not the BBC.

...and has NOT lost net connectivity.

I do actually. It may be only be an alpha release but it shows what we can look forward to look for in the next release of Kubuntu.
:)
Actually on second thoughts I've just checked the article and it's only about Gnome, there's not once mention about KDE in it at all.
So yes, who gives a shit

They're little plastic blocks that kids build things with. Granted, you can make things like the Millenium Falcon with them but it can't actually fly.
Oh wait, you said LIGO, nevermind.

instead of going into the retail store, turning right and picking up the platinum pass, I'm going to turn left and pick up the CD.
Hasn't Microsoft ever heard of Flash?
Yes, and they're trying to kill it.
Well, it was supposed to be the Xbox 360 Ultimate, but after what happened over the weekend it's now being used to prop open a door.
In the paper yesterday, it said that although a lot of singles were downloaded, 95% of all album sales in the UK were physical CDs.
Should be fun seeing how they react.
It will be, there are rumours that they're about to announce a new Xbox with an HD-DVD player built in.
