I hope this can be implemented for modern PCs soon. the fans on modern PCs are the single most dangerously unreliable parts of the PC -- when it goes, the PC dies a slow and painful death. Not everyone has the know-how to clean these fans sporatically, and even among computer people, the knowlege to lubricate fans manually is a rarity. I'd really like to see systems like this, which rely on natural forces, and are less prone to mechanical failure, used instead of high-RPM dust magnets used in heatsinks today.

Lay off, man. Of all the people who have been bitching, Metallica and the other artists are the only people who deserve to be listened to. Just because you don't like what they have to say doesn't put them on the same scale as Rosen and Valenti. At least they have some right to the music, their creation. Personally, a few people I know stopped downloading Metallica MP3s when they asked. It's just respect for the band and their music. If you don't respect the band enough to follow a simple request of "hey, don't steal our music"(granted, with a couple things for napster to do, but that's another thing altogether), why are you still listening to their music?

I mean, all they did was try repeatedly to get bills enacted that would let them legally preform acts of cyber-terrorism, and on a couple occasions, take responsibility for acts of cyber-terrorism against thousands(if not millions) of p2p users(or threaten it), and give the middle finger to owners of modern CD players and those who actually listen to music on their PCs.

I mean, any softer, and they might not want to take the law into their own hands! :P

You're a fool if you believe that marketing changes anything in the long run. What about reviews? What about word-of-mouth? I think you'll find far more people rely on these things than some ad they saw to enforce their decisions, and in a market like this, a game can be a hit before the marketing dept. has time to throw out some ads. Take Battlefield 1942. From what I've seen, it's gained huge popularity soley by word-of-mouth.

This legend that it ABSOLUTELY takes MILLIONS of dollars to create a game worth playing is disproven by all the counterstrike players around the globe, and further disproven by every shocking success coming out of some guys basement. Perhaps in the thick of the industry it's hard to fathom a few extremely dedicated people making something worth playing, but trust me -- every derivitive, hackeyed game you've played this year came from an innovative independant company.

Here's the thing; Killing is illegal and immoral. writing about killing is not illegal, and while distasteful at times, isn't really immoral either.

Despite what some would like to think, there's no difference between writing a book or short story and making a game besides a slightly different medium. As such, video game creators really shouldn't have to justify themselves to anyone the writer of a book should.

Rest assured, AMD had it's feelers out, and realized that the Toms Hardware video really stuck a cord with enthusiasts. That's probably why they have a heat spreader on this one, I'm sure. Of course, now, after I wrote the damn thing, it seems it was just a parody meant for someones english class, but the problem is that there are people using these exact same arguements, almost to the letter, in mainstream media today. Unluckily, I wrote a two page rant about it and posted it here. Luckily, I can post it on my website along with my post-colombine rant. :)

To the people chanting "subtlety", it's not subtle. Trust me, I've read sites even more skewed against video games than this one. Subtlety isn't towing the entire line around exactly like everyone else is, then chuckling behind their backs because you didn't actually mean it. Subtlety is adding a twist, whatever that may be, so people actually notice, if they're looking for it, that this isn't quite right. This seems to be an amalgamation of the arguements used for the past couple years.

The only hoax here is that MAVAV doesn't exist. Everything else is real. As a result, I don't think the creator will do that great on their English project. If he had introduced something new to the mix, it might have been golden.
