yea but... has Linux integrated Pictures, Audio, Music, Video and seamlessly tied that to a DVD burner like Apple has?

Hell in Linux there is not even a "half-way decent" video editor... forget dragging an MP3 to the editor and have the audio automatically import and add itself to the timeline.

THAT'S INNOVATION! What has Linux REALLY done lately? A new nifty scripting language? Cool, not innovative. Oh sure, I have a good cheap firewall but sheesh..

Umm yeah... I have learned nothing in the 18 years of working in IT! My same old tired four year old Mac is still doing day to day video business. I NEVER got 4 quality working years out of a PC. I am so stupid. Never had a virus or worm problem and don't even run virus software. What an idiot I am! All my programs run seamlessly together and I don't need a new security patch every week. What a dumb-ass I am!

I will be GLADLY getting out my wallet for Steve next round of PPC hardware.

Go play with your home built PC, boy. I gave that up years ago (not that I have not upgrades the drives/memory/etc in the Mac)

Nope. I have 5 PC's and have ran DOS 3 to Win2000. Really... it can't.

Mainly because Linux does not have the apps and the only other option is windows. viruses, worms, even running virus software for that matter does nothing but dog the box out.

Windows has NO integrated Pro apps like Final Cut Studio either. I do not mind spending the money for a "true" solution.

Lastly, the PS3 and Xbox360 are not running Intel based hardware for a reason... and it is not cost. ;-)

  17. I have the mower. I LOVE IT! on Scooba the New iRobot Product · · Score: 1

I bought the RL1000. My Amazon review:

I bought a new house and saw that everyone else in the neighborhood had a riding lawnmower. Having a small yard with not much to mow, in the past, I was not looking forward to spending at least 2 hours a week sitting on my [back] driving around in circles. I started looking for "high speed" riding movers but the cost was astronomical.

    (...)
The mower and docking station arrived, from Amazon, in 2 large boxes. Installation and set-up was easily enough and I was "mowing" the front yard the next day. I had the mower set to MAX time but the lawn looked pretty well mowed after about 2 ½ hours. Now in the back yard (much larger area) the grass was long, wet, and has a long slope in it so the mower ran less than 3 hours before it returned to its dock. The lawn looked about 90% done. I was fairly satisfied with that being it is going out again today at 4:00 PM to finish up. "It mows, you don't". Love that!

The only thing I did that took a bit more time for the initial set-up was bury the perimeter wire, in high visibility areas. I did not like looking at the green line. I found this to be quite easy once I taped the "robo ruler" to a lawn edger I already own. I could then easily look down at the ruler and use it as a guide for the 1 inch deep little trench I dug with the edger.

Things that impressed me: There are no "clumps" of grass even when it was mowing during the rain storm. It mows in the rain. :-) It even pulled itself out of a little mud puddle that had formed once it realized it had no more traction in that direction. The speed at which the blades come to a complete stop ( 1 second) if it runs into something while you are manually mowing or you pick up the front.

Negative comments: If you like pretty "lines" in your lawn, this mower is not for you. All your friends and neighbors will ask you questions and/or make fun of you. I suggest you tell them what I tell them, "You do not manually was your clothes. You probably do not hand wash all of your dishes. Why would you WANT to mow your lawn?"

I never got 4 "good" years out of any PC I have owned :-( The 22" cinema is still good :-)

My old trusty dual 533Mhz will be retired to sever duties. Since the new Final Cut Pro supports Xsan I may build a little render farm. Who knows?

Of the 4 people I have talked into buying a Mac I have had 0 complaints. No worms, no viruses, a snappy Unix based OS, and you gonna whine about $700 for a maxed out mini? LOL

Like I said earlier: If you time (doing patches, running/upgrading virus software, adware scans, etc) is not valuable a $400 Dell PC is a bargain. Oh and make sure you upgrade it again in 2 years when Longhorn finally goes gold because you will not have enough CPU ;-)
