Having run a Mac for 5 years... I have not met an audio or video file -yet- I can't convert or duplicate one way or another. I doubt that this skill/ability is OS dependent. Heck with a plug-in and a few free tools it can be "drag and drop". MPEG Streamclip can export all these formats to QuickTime, DV/DV50, AVI/DivX and MPEG-4 with high quality encoding and even uncompressed or HD video.
I think you missed the point. Why rip out something that already works? Because you do not understand it or do not prefer it?
I would guess a version of Linux will be out for the Intel based Mac shortly but it does not seem worth the effort unless MythTV does something "super special" that you absolutely MUST HAVE.

Any open sourced software would have to be a highly polished version of Linux (or derivative ) in order for Google to slap their name on it and have the Wal-Mart clientele be able to actually use it.
I am sure Google, like most large companies, is toying with different things and may even have a thin client OS. But... we are a "few months away" from selling it at Wal-Mart for $99.99
If it WAS true (and not a rumor) it would have also been the "first ever" software package ever to be put to market without ANY of the development staff OR beta testers leaking a copy.
Has much as I love my geek brethren... I was in disbelief before I even clicked the article.

True... Programs like this help you with important stuff, like disabling the 'Service Engine' light after you add headers and rip out your catalytic converters. Your way of saying, "Sure that O2 sensor is running fine, good PCM"

By the time all the vendors recompile for Mactel and all the little annoyances are worked out for the "new" CPU's, hardware, etc. I will be ready for the latest.. greatest.. Mactel (read 4-5 years or about the time service pack 2 is out for Longhorn).
