I thought about this too and I really think he meant "kick the dog". It is a really funny ending to the piece though. It is intended to sum up rather pointless, reaction-getting behaviour. I think.
They're not necessarily forced to go. Some really won't go and their children won't see it as a result. Wouldn't be a surprise if this hurt ticket sales.
You're absolutely right. I'm confusing short haul with smaller airports. Yes - longer haul flights from local airports is clearly what people would like.
They had to modify airports for the 747, a hugely risky project for Boeing back in the late 1960s. It paid off handsomely in the 1970s. I think the A380 will simply replace the 747, whereas Boeing has moved on to a different market altogether.
Sure but Boeing is thinking of the increasing short-haul passenger market. People wanting the convenience of using their local airport to fly around the place and not use big hubs which take ages to get to.
Let me get this straight. We shouldn't spend effort and money on improvements we know we can make because there is some science which some people hope might work (hi there, cold fusion) but is yet to be proven to exist at all, and you're suggesting we throw similar amounts of money at it? This smells like a troll.
I can just Google in Forefox too but sadly if I put a : or . in my Google search it seems to think I want to load a URL whereas Mozilla knew I was trying to search Google. Now I've done the bookmark adding thing and I'm a lot happier - typing 'g site:www.foo.org foo.bar' into the address bar works nicely and it's no hassle really. Firefox feels a bit quicker for me to use than Mozilla used to and seems to look nicer too.
I was wondering about the morality of blocking pop-ups - we're effectively denying revenue to the websites whose content we enjoy. But then I remembered that I don't block all images on websites or Flash, I just hate pop-ups and killing them seems like fair game.
If someone wins the "World's Strongest Man" title two years running you'd hear that they were 'made the champion again'. So this usage, even if it is technically incorrect, is still in keeping with what we may commonly hear.
Which electronic synth did Les Paul invent? He hasn't made any claim to it, hell he doesn't even claim to have invented the pickup. http://www.jinxmagazine.com/les_paul.html
Good point, well made! They must get loads of email telling them it is really funny that every story on April 1st is fake because the vast majority of comments on/. seem to think it's a daft idea. I am sure most would far rather (eventually) enjoy getting fooled by one clever spoof.
Are you a gerbil?

Weird I've always found IE quite quick on my slow machine. Firefox is zippy but not quite as much.
OK OK calm down. We've all got your point. :-)
You're not called Rob are you?
Infringing copyright is hardly morally better than stealing, is it?

The person who went to see it and reviewed it was an American...

It's not rude, but from a distance it looks it so it's not entirely work safe.

He didn't *like* being Doctor Who.
That's why he's no longer in the show!
There truly is a god. It's easily the funniest thing I've read all week.
You think we *shouldn't* kill pop-ups?
Or did you mean to say "Yes I agree with you, pop-ups are unecessary intrusions"?
You did read the bit where I said I thought blocking pop-ups was alright, didn't you?
You must be having a bad day at work I guess.

Try going to a UK newspaper website. The Times is especially bad for pop up adverts that the blocker can't get.
Rassen-frassen Intel!

I need a life.
OK so it is still the fastest computer in the world.
Technically the description wsa accurate, however.

Excessive taxes help prevent school shootings?
Why don't we see anti-gun campaigners making more of this revelation?
