Yes, it's all well and good until Timmy can't open his latest paper for printing because it was saved in Microsoft Word. What a sad day that will be.

Forget the brief case, just carry around your iMac on the stylish handle. Or if your muscles have been weakened by hundreds of hours of reading through Slashdot (or maybe your muscles were never really developed at all and only stuned by violent videogames) you could get the iBooks with their handles.

Of course, leave it to Canada to completely screw up an article. Their load time 'benchmarks' are skewed since the browsers were tested on some sort of 386 hooked up with a baud modem to the internet. Thanks for the totally inaccurate article.

For those of you that couldn't attend the demo personally, there are some pictures (small ones) at the Nvidia Website. Here is the link. Quite frankly I think it's simply incredible that they could render the movie in realtime at any resolution or framerate. As you can see from the pictures, the character still look pretty damn good. Bravo Nvidia!

  18. Sony Vaio and Apple Titanium G4 on Which Laptop To Buy? · · Score: 1

I have two laptops for two different purposes. My Sony Vaio is PROBLEM city. The hardware is all kinds of messed up. When it is running, it's a decent laptop but an old one at that (P2 300Mhz, 64mb RAM, 1st gen DVD drive). The modem in it is fine however when I'm at home I pop in a LinkSys 802.11b PCMCIA card. It is basically for me to just play around in. The other laptop is a very impressive Apple Titanium G4. This thing is my baby! It is actually for doing work (I work for a photo studio) and does the job very well. I didn't expect a laptop to handle huge image files as it's bigger brother the Power G4 did but I was pleseantly surprised - image editting is a breeze and it's fast enough even for my tastes. I also enjoy how small and light this beauty is.

I would think that if Linux was easily available to select on the site (Home/Home Office) that a lot of average people would unknowingly select it. Or even if they meant to select it and didn't know exactly what it is. Imagine that and then a bunch of people without Internet Explorer, Outlook, and Word. Dell would get complaints, probably having to replace the computer, and therefore losing money and resources.
