because it conincides with my dyslexic friends celebration of "Polar Foils" day. Or was it "Flora Spoil" day? "Frail Loops"? "Sailor Flop"? "Pail Floors"?
Not the Dark Side itself. The Dark Side is where evil people dwell, its not something you just evolve to when you become angry, but by being angry, and doing angry/evil things while angry you move down that path
In Australia, all I have seen or heard in the last week no matter what station I have tuned into is Jodie Foster and Panic Room. Using the law that says the more hyped the movie is, the less pulling power the story actually has I would say that this one has problems.
One strange thing I find is that they are hyping the fact they couldn't get Nicole Kidman so they got their second resort Jodie Foster. Sounds like all spin to me to help a movie they are really worried about. Maybe this is just another case of Slashdot selling out to the big movie studios, but it does seem kinda irrelevant to be talking about this movie just because it has some premise of having technically advanced themes. Did Sandra Bullock in the boxoffice blockbuster "The Net" get this much attention? Jodie may be good but come on, the fact that this review has appeared here just looks like Katz buying into the Hollywood hype. Sounds like "oooh, shiny!" syndrome again.
I love the way that religious groups believe that such advances are the "devils" work.
Perhaps these people need to take a close look at all the good that can come of these devices, like the guy who wanted one so that if he had medical problems, the paramedics could quickly find out his details. Applications like that are fantastic, and can save peoples lives.
Here is another link to another company that also makes a similar kind of chip.

NEW YORK (Variety) -- A remake of the TV series "Battlestar Galactica" as a four-hour miniseries, the transformation of the mini "Firestarter: Rekindled" by Stephen King into an hourlong series
Maybe I'm not as hard core manga geek type as everyone else but those two excite me more than the article topic. Imagine if they had produced Battlestar with today's computer graphic capabilites and the hype that you can generate by using the net... Oh wait, what am I doing now?
I know when I was first on the web there was a plethora (I have always wanted to use that word) of information to be discovered. Now days I sometimes find myself struggling to find good information to read. I read Slashdot, and then go to [H]ardOCP and Gameguru - I get almost identical stories. In the past I would stay on the 'net to chat to people, until one day when I realized that the people you chatted to online weren't real people, they were just the identities they projected on the web. BBSing and MUDing are becoming more irrelevent. Also, today people have maybe finished looking for what really happened on Babylon 5/Neo Genesis and only use the web for roles (messaging/email)
Goodbye 14 hour telnet bbs/mud sessions, I won't miss you.
One of the great things about IPv6 is that we won't need NAT's.
We will run out of addresses, its just a matter of time. Think about the future where we will have our fridges and light switches hooked up to the net via thier own ip addresses. IPv6 allows for 1000+ adresses per square metre on earth.
Blocking p2p won't solve that problem, because users will find some way to download the files they want ie web pages, IRC, ICQ etc

How on earth (or otherwise) is Lucas going to follow that one?
:)
I feel like he has just raised the bar to another level
Wow
