Well I've put a team of monkeys to work on trying to figure out how to ensure you don't lose your $129 dollars, and will still allow Steve Jobs to market his product in a way that he sees fit.
After 3.4 seconds, the monkeys typed the following:
I work at a medium-large (household name) sized software company and have basically nil Linux knowledge. However, going through the docs jabber took only a few hours to setup, creating contact lists for everyone took some time but since they were XML i loved it.
The only jabber chat rooms developer folks were really helpful with a few questions that came up.
No, it's not a matter of confusion, the parent seems to be deciding to use Windows vs Linux based on the bootup time which is silly. There are tools for every job. Sometimes it is Windows, sometimes it is Linux.
The alternative I suggested was to use suspend, a better option would be hibernate perhaps where the laptop is completely powered down. The Ram contents are written to harddisk. On an ACPI system windows begins loading and sees that it was in suspend and loads the hibernation file into ram, or APM where this function is controlled more at the bios level.
If they're wrong, although I doubt it, and it turns out LinkSys did release everything they needed to release in order to comply with GPL, this is probably the latest product they'll release with Linux code.
It's interesting that CNN's main page still shows the top story as: Senate OKs no-call list The Senate approved legislation that would grant authority to the Federal Trade Commission to maintain a do not call registry for telemarketers. The House approved similar.....

You mean guilty until proven innocent? The burden is on the STUDENT to justify what they are researching.

No. Exploits are usually released with major operating system upgrades, not patches.
That would be funnier if it was SCO suing valve for using System V Unix Code in Half Life 2.

Drug users do not always.
Drug abusers do.
The same goes for anything else such as driving or gambling. Any addiction really.
Well I guess we better submit a graphic to CmdrTaco for the 'asshat' topic.
Which side of the letter do they scan though?
When would they know to scan both?
How would they know the letter they're scanning isn't intended for 'Customer B' and got mixed in with 'Customer X's mail?
for xp systems that are not connected to a domain (welcome screen enabled, fast user switching enabled) CTRL-ALT-DEL still brings up task manager.
Ctrl-Alt-Delete brings up task manager on some systems and options to change password/launch task manager/lock screen on the other.
It never had anything to do with hard reset, CTRL-ALT-DEL is a soft reset.
If you want a hard reset, thats why the case/tower normally has a button for reset.

I'm all for that last minute getting to class thing, but you could always boot it a minute before class starts?
Or leave it in suspend?
