The Napster installation uses Install Shield, as do thousands of other apps, one of the benefits of a standard installer is the stability.
If his installer was crashing, there is more then likely a problem on his system not related to Napster but perhaps became visible on the Napster install.
Yes it uses installshield, I am a napster tester..
The EFF has taken on defense of another alleged filesharer. Here is a snippet: Los Angeles, California - EFF today announced that it will defend Ross Plank of Playa Del Rey, California, against a wrongly filed complaint, among the 261 copyright infringement lawsuits the recording industry has filed against individuals.
The federal lawsuit filed against Plank in Los Angeles accuses him of making hundreds of Latin songs available using KaZaA filesharing software earlier this summer. Plank does not speak Spanish and does not listen to Latin music. More importantly, his computer did not even have KaZaA installed during the period when the investigation occurred.
Since you like to nitpick, I'll give you the wording from the actual policy about some activities which are "unacceptable":
Any unlawful use, including activities which violate trademarks, copyrights or licenses agreements
Peer-to-peer software such LimeWire, eDonkey, Kazaa and Morpheus
While my original message may not have made it as clear, the actual policy is very specific.
Using Internet resources to maintain your own business is also against the rules, but it is very clear that it does allow casual web browsing, news, industry things, even personal websites so long as your duties at work are not interferred with. Coming previously from Big Blue, I found this to be an amazing change.
Please don't welcome them, last time we had to get Optimus Prime and the other Autobots to stop the robot after Megatron reprogrammed it.
Enter the Nightbird The Decepticons steal an experimental female ninja robot named Nightbird, and use her to steal the Autobots' computer chip containing information on the world's energy sources. She succeeds in stealing the chip from the Ark, but is confronted and trapped by the Autobots. The Decepticons come to her aid, but she is ambushed by the jealous Starscream. The Decepticons chase after the fleeing Starscream, leaving Nightbird and the chip with the Autobots.

Apples are much more expensive then Wintel systems. I'm not speaking of initial cost, but TCO (total cost of ownership). Ever try to upgrade a MAC? Yes you can add memory, some of the higher end you can ever swap all sorts of things, but a PC is far more upgradeable then any mac.
I think this whole counter thing really has no point anymore. Linux has reached the point where it is almost a household name and the actual count on this counter is way off. I would imagine there are well more then 130.000 people that use linux. According to this paper there are between 600.000 and 2.000.000 Linux users. Numerous other articles are available with similar numbers if you care to check Google.

1) AAC is only compatible with the iPod. There are a hundred players that play WMA, only a few.... er wait... one player that plays AAC. Plus it's Apples format, I don't think they've ever offered to license it out.

no it is not pressplay.
PressPlay does not offer 99 cent tracks or $10 albums. It's a paid music service, they're not claiming to be something they aren't.
>> It's just PressPlay with a different face and >> a different owner.
a) I'm using it right now and the face is actually pretty sexy b) PressPlay didn't offer you 99 cent downloads of individual tracks of $10 for an album. It's a seperate model.
Adobe is introducing product activation, Symantec has added product activiation to the latest Norton Antivirus product for consumers, and I know someone who works for another large consumer software company who will be introducing activation. In addition, Macromedia was rumored to be adding activation to StudioMX but I haven't heard if they went through with it or not.
This will be a growing pain until enough companies realize that they're only pissing off consumers because those who want to copy it will find a way.

I used bittorrent to download RH9 isos as I had a business need for it, never got any hassle about it.
