This 'trottling' has killed my latency for online gaming. And yes, I'd be willing to pay a reasonable amount for a higher speed connection to play these games but that isn't something they offer. I don't have any other broadband options in my area unfortunately with possibly the exception of satellite but I'm still looking in to that.
While my download isn't capped to the best of my knowledge, the upload is capped at 20kpbs meaning my downstream is limited by the ack packets it can send back.:(
From AlterNet: History has shown gamers that online protest can result in positive change, as exemplified in Ultima Online's 1997 naked riot demanding bug fixes and server upgrades. Not only were some of the rioters' issues addressed by the game publisher following the incident, but the event was widely reported, and gamers worldwide have been inspired to acts of virtual civil disobedience ever since. Remember that your worst enemy, aside from integrated branding, is inaction. Electronic Arts clearly wants players of The Sims Online to be wildly imaginative, and has already recognized that the online world is unpredictable.
Reply to this and I'll post your e-mail on my website. It's amazing how many spams I get just for having an e-mail address on a not so popular game fan site. I'll check later for the reply
It takes more then a few days, but I've used a generic hotmail account for 4+ years now and after just a few usenet posts, I get about 100 spams per day.
The latest release of PHPNuke (a simple php/mysql based web portal, a very scaled down slash code almost) does this when submitting a news item. You choose a main topic which is what determines the icon/category it appears as on the main page, but you can associate news submissions with multiple categories for the purpose of searches so one posting will appear under every category selected.
people who got cease and desist letters for hosting things on websites that people claim they own....
Just how GameSpot send me a nasty cease and desist letter for posting screenshots with their logo, they wanted them down and that was their goal. To get them down and they did so as efficiently as possible. Suing individuals over a website would have caused a huge stink.
I just replaced a hdd in my boxen with a 60GB maxtor drive, here is the text from the box:
'A gigabyte means 1 billion bytes. Total accessible capacity varies depending on operating environment.'
That said, do Dell, Gateway, and HP even manufacturer their own drives? I would assume no, IBM did manufacturer some until Hitachi took over everything. Shouldn't you be going after the hard disk manufacturers if anyone at all?
From the Article: >>For example, when a consumer buys what he >>thinks is a 150 gigabyte hard drive, the >>plaintiffs said, he actually gets only 140 >>gigabytes of storage space. That missing 10 >>gigabytes, they claim, could store an extra >>2,000 digitized songs or 20,000 pictures.
In other news, the RIAA is going the way of minority report and has started a new pre-download offensive.
The RIAA is now hunting children down and suing parents over the potential songs that could be stored in the extra 10GB missing on 150GB hard disks.

A lawyer can never answer yes or no 100% of the time. They can give best guesses, and contribute ideas on what to do to not get sued (poor grammer alert) but anyone can sue for anything.
for the PC it is as simple as loading Sound Recorder in Windows, just ensure your recording volume control has a check under 'select' in the wave category.
>> cop-killer rap, and I'm proud to have one of >> the most extensive Christian rock sections >> that I know of.
It's called changing with the times, stop blaming your problems on others when perhaps it is your unwillingness to cater to a potential market that lets other record stores succeed while yours is destroyed.
CNN Pharse - Todays Date 2003 - New York - Parents of the 12 year old girl and childish RIAA henchmen have come to a settlement in the case of the 12 year old being sued for sharing MP3s using a paid version of a popular file sharing application. The settlement is reported to involve the girl giving up 3 barbie dolls, 2 pairs of shoes, and 4 pieces of bubble gum. In return, the RIAA will stop throwing mud and pulling her hair.

What I'm confused about, and if they clarified this somewhere, please let me know....
1) They're selling a runtime license to allow you to run Linux that you are already running that they claim contains SCO IP. (SCO and IP is an oxymoron, sorry)
2) I RTFA (yes i RTFA and I'm not new!:) and it stated:

What happens when RedHat ships RH 10.x, does this license give you rights to use any SCO binaries (or other IP) under the condition that someone else stole and packaged them, so as long as you don't modify them yourself?

What? You gonna rebuild that great firewall of china?
I'm not sure if you live or lived in a country that has/had internet access restricted in one way or another, possibly by government/military. If you were in that scenario did you appreciate being blocked and nothing you can do as an individual to stop it?

In all seriousness though, all types of research, concepts, and development can be used in a way that is not beneficial to the greater good of humanity. Even a fork can be used to inflict pain upon another.

The offer of amnesty will not apply to the roughly 1,600 people who already have been targets of copyright subpoenas from the Recording Industry Association of America, which has promised to file hundreds of infringement lawsuits across the country as early as next week.

I'm glad. While I hate spam as much as the next person, the penalty needs to fit the crime.
I don't like the spammers, but should they go to jail for sending e-mail? No.
For those who disagree, do you think those downloading mp3s should be taken to court?

Step 1) Announce Duke Nuken Forever
Step 2) ???
Step 3) Release game
--- end duke.nukem.4ever.plan.txt ---
For the boys over at 3D Realms, step 2 is: MAKE THE DAMN GAME
