Following on Sony's heels with the multi-standard 500/510 drives are TDK and Pioneer. I just picked up a Pioneer A06 and it's pretty damn sexy, and reads/writes +R/+RW/-R/-RW
No I don't even live with them, it was just an idea of what the marketing has done. I haven't touched p2p since the grand 'ol days of Napster. These are the same people who thought Y2K was going to destroy the world and that the lovebug was going to end life as we know it.

A quick glace of Apple's Panther Preview Page reveals to me the level of techical ability that Apple sees in its target market.
------- Panther will include a final X11 window server for Unix-based apps, improved NFS/UFS, FreeBSD 5 innovations as well as support for popular Linux APIs, IPv6 and other important acronyms. -------
I wish they'd lay off the acronym support until they get those vowels working properly!

Peer review only lasts until the product is deemed to have no 'show stoppers'. Look at most retail software titles that come with a README of 'known issues'.
Washington, DC - June 26, 2003 - Dept. Of Defense in charge of security and defense for the United States Of America will be going over budget on an IPV6 upgrade. The majority of costs will be involved in training staff to count to the number 6. Previous training to count up to 5 was thought to be years ahead of its time since the DOD believes IPV5 would come after IPV4.

What if we just download it to laugh at it?

I can tell you with certainty that is not true for Epson printers, I can't speak for other brands.
Most printers have a way of resetting the ink count so it thinks the old cart is a new one, but yes way beyond the thoughts of the average consumer.
