This may be a bit off topic, but I've enjoyed seeing how the advertisments have changed. They've gone to smallish, start-up isp's to cobalt server-ware, to that sony-dog-thing. Just thought it's been a cool thing to watch. Remember when/. didn't have comments? Good work Rob. When you go public, I'm buying stock;) fict.
I've pestered the author of cdparanoia to release a version that will rip data, but to no avail =(. He said it was possible to do it with the cdparanoia libs, but he wasn't interested. Anyhow, the reason I don't like cdrecord/mkisofs or even xcdroast is they won't backup (read: copy) cd's with non-standard tracks (read: playstation games). Other than that, they're fine.
Jon, usually I agree with you entirely, but I think you are misinterpreting why WB cancelled the finale. WB wasn't afriad that it would cause violence, they're were afraid they would offend people, and IMHO, rightfully so. No, I wouldn't be offended, but that's not to say that my parents wouldn't be. It made fine sense from a PR standpoint. And I doubt that WB was thinking about the internet's effect when they cancelled it any more than I think about the internet's affect on drinking my soda.
when Win2000 comes out, win 95,98 and NT won't just go away. For that reason, I would imagine that windows will have to include SMB for 2000 and beyond.
If your return policy is still good get rid of the linksys hubs. not because it is slow, but because in a matter of months, the hub will experience nice spiraling death-type symptoms.
So far my sohoware 8 port + 1 switch is holding up nicely.
Aside from one smart ass AC, I have yet to see anyone in these discussions make an attempt at bashing BeOS, and at least three people screaming to give it a chance. Chill. Take a breather. I like to think that all os's (yep. *all* of them) are capable of living in harmony. I've used Be on a very limited basis, but during its usage, I must admit, it was nice. Take it easy.
First I just wanted to say that you are my new hero:) Anyhow the site is dead beyond any comprehension... I don't suppose you could put that liscense key up if you still remember it? The important thing tho, can I play half life?:) Thanks SO much:)
I feel like i'm missing out -- when most of these texts were written i was about 2 years old. I had a c64, but was way to young to appreciate it...I think I played last ninja on it, tho. that's about all i remember from that era:( Hrmph. Oh Well.
Hrm. No.. I am running quake 1 on a dx/4 100. runs great, and significantly higher than 10 frames a second.. too bad i don't have time to run a time demo right now.
I'm sorry, but you are flat out wrong. I have consistantly gotten 67 fps in quake2 from windows, and only 37 fps in quake2 under linux on the same machine. If I'm missing out on something, or misunderstood, I apologize... I still barely ever boot windows (half-life:) Later.
I don't get why the UltraHLE authors don't open source this thing. It would surely help out a lot in their upcoming trial.. unless they have something to hide...
Amen, the more competitors we have, the better. That's capitalism -- may the best product win... And I have faith that the best product will win, and if it should fall behind, then people will not use it. simple as that.
Hey folks, I was just wondering if anyone knows when wine might be capable of running half-life -- when it is, I don't think I'll ever have a reason to reboot. BTW, have you noticed that Quake2 framerates seem consistently higher under windows than linux? (at least with my voodoo2) I assume this is attributed to better optimized gl drivers in windows or something... Anyway if anyone knows when half-life is gonna work with wine post below:)

Mirrors anybody? =) Please?

I didn't see anything in there about dvd support. Any active kernel developers have a word on that?

I just wanted to encourage everyone to NOT respond to this. You know it's a troll, and you know he's seeking attention.
Thanks.

Here's what's at the botom of the 'legal faq':
How Do I Report Sites that are Offering Illegal Software or Other Illegal Video Game Products?
Please either call and report that information to Nintendo of America Inc. at 1-800-633-3236 or e-mail us at noalegal@noa.nintendo.com.
please note the 1-800-633-3236... Yup, a toll free way to complain, and make your opinion heard. Whee

I've been looking all over the ftp for awhile now, and to no avail. Perhaps I'm not looking hard enough. Could you be a bit more specific? =)
