I am one user who switched to Macintosh because of my positive experience with the iPod.
Although I run PC's at home; i bought my first Macintosh last month (an iBook G4 -- i've used them but not regularly, in the past--OS X being *IX is a HUGE draw for me)
All the subsequent family Computers will now be Macintoshes.
So basically all Dish network would have to do is get licenses for the talk radio stations (probably very costly, but still possible) and make them available.
We currently get Sirius Radio's music channels on our Dish receiver, equipped with PVR.
i wonder if this guy felt so strongly about linux's use in the pornography community right here in the united states.
either this guy isn't serious, or doesn't think too hard. as the "Blaming the tool" guy mentions, linux is used in many places where "injustice" is carried out.
A better anology is that "since shoplifting is common and unstoppable, stores will raise their prices to compensate." Which is exactly what they do today. So it's not unprecedented.
Xerithane,
do you come from my home city? do i know you? if not, then you ain't paying for my schooling. it's sad to know someone who didn't learn in public school which tax dollars go where.
second,
Flailey,
i was confused because i did what i thought was typing in "www.idealab.com" and got fc site, NOT because i cannot read. why is it that when someone isn't agreeing with the 'majority' they are somehow a "paid shill". i don't know either people who run the company from adam. i'm not anonymous--you see my website and email address above...i'm not affiliated with any of you or these other companies, i speak for myself. my guess however is that calling someone a "paid shill" is an easy way for you to dismiss whatever a dissenter says. please son, think before you post.
i went to fc yesterday (as i do everyday) and saw this--for goodness sake fc pretty much ripped off idealab's jpeg (down to the "idealab capital partners" in the left hand corner) and replaced it with companies. i thought idealab had gone out of business (further more, i actually thought some of the companies on the tag were owned by idealab; i remember thinking "tellme.com is owned by idealab?") so i opened a new browser and typed "www.idealab.com" and i SWEAR i was redirected back to fc -- maybe it was a fluke (or a hack?) who knows--the fact is, i was confused...
at any rate, i could definitely see how idealab was misrepresented here. why in the world, right after getting in trouble with fast company would they go and rip off idealab for something as lame as a splash page anyway? is it the "cool factor" or recognition of getting in trouble with big companies? as much as i enjoy fc, my initial thought on this issue is "people grow up and be somewhat responsible".
i'm feeling you, man. it amazes me that i have *still* yet to see a GUI as functional and lovely as NeXTStep's. this was actually the first computer i ever spent a significant amount of time on, outside of my TI994A--and it hurt to have to use a DOS machine back home.
i feel like crying...i miss the spinning floptical icon, the 3D file folders that changed when you drop a file on them. it took microsoft YEARS (MSIE destop extensions) to finally bite off of them properly, and still doesn't have it altogether.
it's freaky; i often have dreams that i'm in a comupter lab full of color NeXT boxes--we had the greyscales, and 2 color ones, with *scanners*!. i can't believe i'm that old that i'd read that "most of us haven't played with one..."
we need to take mr. katz out for the weekend on the town in chicago's hip hop underground. you will then realize vinyl is alive and well. if you can't book a date, just visit the skratchpiklz website to see that vinyl is far from dead.
To have an effective watchdog of on-line privacy, it must be a non-profit organization or a government agency
Trust-e claims to be non-profit. i don't think non-profit will get you anywhere if you're funded by corporations and not consumers, as Consumer Reports is.
i think that is is precisely *because* of this trial that we now see so many more choices being pushed to the forefront--this trial has brought to light what a lot of companies have been saying, and have allowed them to come out from their fear of being squashed by MS and innovate (how i so hate that word now that i've heard MS use it so many times as a euphemism for "buy out").
we needed an entity larger than MS to do the bullying--who else but the Govt. of the US could do it?

Be black.
sponsor something to do with audio.
something to do with hip hop music, sampling, turntable mechanics. something.
if its hip hop the kids will dig it.

as with most good ideas i threw in my two cents over year ago in my blog
you'll get?!
this person is apparently already unhealthily paranoid.

the RadioShark is an idea whose time has passed.
unless of course they're giving them away

yeah i actually know one of these kinda cats, he's the black dude with pointy dreads always grinning--he's a rapper named MG! the visionary.
:)
i've seen him everywhere from target 401k brochures to yahoo! personals to even a raisin bran commercial where you can see him in motion
j.
well think about this on a business *ethics* level....
'nuff said.
j.
you describe me to a TEE.
peep game.
doesn't mean that they're gone. it means that they're under financial protection. it was part of the agreement to being bought out by BMG.

where's the survey you refer to?
i'd say that's your own fault. noone's stopping you from naming your file with a popular band name included (a sounds like bandname perhaps?)
i.e.
djallstar (the roots) mysongname.mp3

i can't believe this was moderated as "flamebait".
