If that is the case, the "American Taliban" John Walker cannot be tried in the US Judicial courts and must be returned to Afghanistan when this "war" ends. This is a major dilemma.

Unless of course, he is still an American citizen. I have no idea if he renounced citizenship or not, but I would think if he's really still an American, then he would be held and tried like any other criminal, wartime or not.

How about a genuine understanding of copyright law? How about compensation for the artists who create the music (in this case. replace music with art, movies, software, TV shows, books, plays, you name it)?

oh, don't forget horrific laws (um, DMCA, hello?) getting slipped through our legislative branch, lubed up with the vast cash reserves of an industry that's been slipping it to the artists since it's inception. Nevermind that the music business is booming. No artist has *ever* been denied his "big break" because of Napster or any of the clones. We will never see this: "E! True Hollywood Story. Metallica: The Band that Napster Murdered." Is there not a general concensus that P2P sharing programs promote a healthy interest in music, specifically, the obscure artists (those who often deserve acclaim 1000x more than the most of the mainstream crap).

I have Dreamcast, and love it. I would have to disagree with you on one point tho. The games. Don't get me wrong there are quite a few really great games (crazy taxi, ecco, soul calibre, et al). With Bleem you can play Gran Turismo 2, Tekken3, and MetalGear? on DC. But once you get the top 10 or 20, you start running out of options. I've rented scores of games that were only good for 10 min of play. Some games are real crap (rainbow6 on DC made me want to break the controller in half).

Also, I believe you can only play mp3s (or run linux or MAME emulators, or anything you have to boot from CD for) on Pre-Oct-2000 units. I found one in summer 2001, so maybe they're still around, but I slightly doubt it.

When I hire someone like you, it's almost always as a contract telecommuter. When I need a code monkey who works fast, but don't care if they have any sort of social skills. I'd wager a great deal more than 5% is inaccessible if you count all the home sites locked away behind nat firewalls. Once we all start getting hundreds of IPv6 addresses at home, we'll start to see hundreds more small home/user sites popping up. This could greatly change the structure of the net, once again breaking away from the central information resources we are beggining to solely rely on and start using small independent resources much more.

I don't think that being behind a NAT device constitutes being "unreachable". granted, you're reachability is governed by policies with NAT, but that's an administrative matter, not a Layer3 (IP) reachability issue.
