I recall that in Britan a while back someone actually got a frog to float by using a powerful magnetic field. What I think all this research amounts to is something along the lines of "If we use enough power and a big enough magnetic field, gravity won't like us anymore." I just hope that warp drive hurries up, I'm tired of earth.
Granted, I think they've been trying for a Superman remake for years with, of all people, Nick Cage. blech. One of the coolest things about the origninal was the costuming (great for it's day), and Roddy McDowell. I mean, I knew he'd landed on a future Earth, I knew they'd nuke the place, et al. Still, not a bad movie.
Come on... You have Hardware _and_ Software under one roof, and can develop both quickly. Given Apple's recent rebirth (Thanks Mr Jobs) It would be so tempting to go this way. You can't do that in the wintel/amd/linux world with a zillion different people doing different things and hoping they can market their product into being the standard.
Right. From what I've seen, they don't care. They want the money. Don't care about science. Money is their god. There is a difference between "reasonable Profit" and "Profiting from human suffering".
Of course, most of your genes and gene sequences will be owned by Corporate Intellectual Property groups. Want to come up with a cancer cure? Need to pay through the nose.
I firmly believe that if we required Mr Clinton to actually _use_ and _understand_ how computers/the internet/life worked, he wouldn't shoot off with stupid stuff like this. While the government might be comfortable with tons of records, can you _imagine_ how much space logs like this would take up?
Basically, they talked, and solved nothing. Jeff is filing patents to protect himself, but won't pursue them. Why bother? It would be more impressive to make a damn profit for _once_ in his companies life, but that doesn't seem to ever occur to him. Last time I checked, the stock market is losing their interest, and all the patents in the world won't replace what a few quarters of profit would.
I do have problems with greyscale sometimes, I need all the visual clarity they can give. The latter greyscale ones are cool, and I imagine the color one will be a welcome bonus. It's not like all of them are going color.:)
I agree with him here. Most other replies, people see "Jon Katz" and think "Blech". The Net doesn't isolate us, cause there are thousands of people there to meet and talk to. We are a community.
What most of Slashdot needs to do is to stop and read rather than blindly dismiss things.
Jim Lee, much as I loved his X men and wildcats work, has one problem. He has a Breast Fetish. I recall one memorable episode, with Jean Grey, Rogue, Storm, and Pyslocke, all in one panel, and no chest smaller than a 44DD. Scary.

I'm trying to figure out if I should be impressed someone did this. It's not techincally impressive, and all he did was mention "porn". Woo. More impressive would have been tossing out comments like "We've just decided to nuke Iraq." or things like that. Reagan used to use comments like that just to piss the media off.
On the other hand, all involved did end up looking stupid. Wasn't hard to make them look bad, but it was done. Cool.
Now, if the FCC wanted to give Case the royal screwover, make equal access to cable channels the law. All those billions down the drain, when all he really wanted was exclusive access to all those cable modems.
They are right up there with Weekly World News and the like. Rumor Mag. Great way to boost readership is to put a SW casting rumor up.
You know, I haven't even seen EpI yet. Maybe I'll rent it. I didn't like the "Special Editions". Someone should have told Lucas "Less is sometimes Better".
Sigh. I need more sleep.

Geez... Do the words "Fake Fur" ring a bell? And what does this have to do with Nazi's? Someone thought I'd be cute to cover his case with fake cow fur/skin. Big Deal.
Granted, your section is saddening, deeply troubling and makes me depressed. I'll to eat a few pounds of prime rib in my leather coat and make hamburgers for the homeless tomorrow. Oh the shame.
For those looking for Area 51, it's been moved to north west Texas, now called area 6452 or something like that. I think I saw that in Popular Science a year or so ago.
Kind of what I meant to say, really. I've done Computer Lab work, where otherwise normal people are totally lost in front of a computer. They aren't stupid. I would venture to say that if AOHell would take the time to educate them (like we end up doing in Computer Labs), we would all be better off.
But you get what you pay for, NASA. You cut corners, and you blew it. I'm surprised the shuttles still fly.

I'm not kidding. If you believe the rumors that have been floating about it for ages. :)
Also, he'd better _not_ cast Johnny Depp in this on too.

Maybe Burton will handle it well.
is anyone going to claim that this article is old? Geez... This was on ABCnews.com a week ago.

But the only thing I see interesting is the ease of updating. Or is there more that doesn't show up?

nice try Jeff, but you're still a loser.
It's a horror movie. I didn't feel the urge to see it.

I've read a quote from the CEO of Rambus that it would have succeeded if Intel hadn't gotten in a hurry and pushed it.

You know, someone has a complete set of these, customized for each area of North America. I'd love to find this person and nuke him.
