    Disagree.

Lots of programmers have "autistic-spectrum disorders" - loaded descriptor, I know.

What this means is that we need to lock ourselves in our rooms and just do X. No distractions from the bosses. No girls walking by. Just good solid 12 hour days to actually get work done. That is who we are and why remote jobs are such a good idea in general.

Naive child, maybe where you live, people are honest. Where I live, there is one angry woman (demographic withheld) who is known to slice open packages and give you empty boxes. She literally remembers faces or has a list of names. I was banished from my post office as well as my neighbor for coming in and demanding an explanation. Things of all sorts for me, from adult lubricant my boyfriend ordered to jewelry was stolen. For my neighbor, valuables were also stolen. A Yelp review had nothing but similar reviews of snotty service and things being obviously stolen or "lost". Yet another friend literally had tire tracks from a postal truck on his package. The carrier apologized and said he could reject it but he had his suspicions on why it was that way and wasn't allowed to go any further than that. This friend got the OK to look at the treads on the truck, and sure enough, the pattern matched the impressions in the package. Carrier apologized that someone would have the nerve to do it but he was not allowed to point fingers.

This doesn't happen with FedEx or UPS. Something might be stolen off the front porch, but packages aren't sliced into routinely. Real companies have real tracking and cameras all over the place to keep fraudulent employees in check. Their investigations are actually investigations.

There are a lot of scholarly papers out there to prove my point. Go out, exercise your brain, do some research. Our great world will be clean of nasty smoggy pollutants, and Renewable Energy will be king unless Donald Trump's collusions with the oil producing Russians breaks the great things we have going for ourselves.

  19. Re:Is this the internet? on BlackBerry Files Patent-Infringement Suit Against Nokia (bloombergquint.com) · · Score: 0

It is bad to be the loser in this case. Blackberry still has a little bit of product line left, Nokia doesnt even have one left to speak of. When I was much younger my dad came back every day and spent the evenings on his Blackberry talking to other people in the company. It did email and was indestructible. They didnt do enough innovation so Apple took over the whole market. Now you dont see anyone with a phone that isnt made by Apple anymore. Its called innovation. So what happens a lot of times I heard was when small companies are swirilling around the drain they sue each other to pick the other off to be bought/acquired by a bigger comapny so they themselves will be less of a target.

Thats what is going on here. They are trying to sue Nokia so someone like Apple or MSFT picks them off like a hawk and then while the big company is distracted, they will make a comeback

  20. "President" Trump is so pro Russian he ACTUALLY MARRIED ONE. My English prof spent a week highlighting the virtues of Bernie Sanders. Donald Trump was going to atttack Bernie so hard the Democrats actually HAD to put Hillary up to the top. She had tons of experience and a better known name, so that's what they did. It was later found Russian hackers literally hacked the election and caused Hillary to lose. What do we have to gain? Trump is gonna sign an executive order renaming the country something like New Putinia or Russian Republick of Trumped States.

If I had more money Id move and become an englishman or frenchman.

Dont joke about that. I learned in my industrial design class taught by someone who worked at apple a long time "every millimeter counts". They have market projections to show exactly how big the dimensions even have to be, like they won't sell a lot if it is too thick OR too thin. But the difference between thick and thin is centimeters. So every millimeter does count, if they made a removeable battery that would make the iPhone at least 3 or 4 millimeters thicker and only Die Hard anti-MSFT people would still buy Apple with this kind of law in place. One of my profs called it the law of unintended consequences.
