How about this: A Trek series not involving Starfleet, set in the early days of the Federation, or just before it.
It could be from the point of view of independant explorers, prospectors, smugglers, or freighter captains. The main characters don't have a ship of their own, they're just wandering around the galaxy, out of pure wanderlust. They don't have to save the universe every week, all the character development is about them and the exploration of the galaxy.
And most of all, THEY DON'T HAVE TO FOLLOW THAT GODDAMN PRIME DIRECTIVE(a.k.a. The Plot Killer Device).
That because he *is* pronouncing it as "Lee-nooks", just like he pronounces his name as "Lee-nus".
And this is just a pet peeve of mine that's somewhat related, I'm not really replying to agallagh42. Just where does "Lin-ix" come from? Linus pronounces it as above, and therefore "Lye-nucks" makes more sense to someone who grew up pronouncing Linus as "Lye-nus".
In summary, I'll pronounce it "Lye-nucks", and all you "Lin-ix" nazis can bite me.
Calling all perverts, calling all perverts, go to Exploitation Now! Who knows, you might even find a story in there. Well, probably not, but there's lots of pretty artwork.
Wrong. My college, for one, does. Students are "strongly encouraged" to use only Microsoft Word. This is for compatibility reasons, because all instructors must, by contract, use Microsoft Word. Also, they must use Excel, Powerpoint, Access, and Visual Studio. We've currently got an insane infestation of various Outlook viruses in our all-Windows computer labs. So don't you pull that "no-one's forcing you to use MS stuff" argument. Some of us *are* forced.
Duke Nukem merely ripped off the one-liners, but Doom used essentially the same plot without being insulting to the original. It's a matter of "look'n'feel". I don't know about anyone else, but I felt like I was Ash In Space.

Appropriate, given that Doom itself was a (insert polite word for well-done ripoff here) of the Evil Dead movies. (Grin) The best horror movies were always the worst, anyway. Just look at Dead Alive.
Err, no. All science is based on the idea that all scientific theories must be able to be tested, that nothing is provable, only disprovable, and that if a theory is disproved, then it must be modified or abandoned. I'm really paraphrasing here, but that's the gist of it.
To a certain mentality, the fun comes in having the tools to play around with, to make interesting projects on a spur-of-the-moment basic. Or so I understand from an uncle of mine.
And I'm not sure if it's common, but there really is that type of business in my hometown. They rent out anything from powersaws to snowplows. Sort of like Home Hardware meets Blockbuster.
Damn you! If this coffee that just went through my nose damages my keyboard, you're buying me a new one. Dangerous to read Trek articles while drinking anything...:)

So what? Pedophiles have large (albeit anonymous) communities built up around the idea that children are sex objects. A community does not automatically make an idea good.
To tell the truth, I'm not sure which group I'd sooner avoid...
For even more reassurance, one can use a small personal firewall and deny IE any access to the Internet at all(grin). In Zone Alarm, for instance, one can select on a per-application basic to always allow, always deny, or have the Zone Alarm ask each time if a program can access the Internet. Personally, I set IE to "ask", because I get a perverse pleasure out of denying it any power at all.
Regarding Canada's Medicare system, you understand wrong. The waiting lists here are no longer that those of US hospitals and clinics, but due to lots of funding cuts in the Medicare program by our last few Prime Ministers, we're in real danger of having those kinds of lineups.
Also, do you have real health insurance, or HMO coverage? Not flaming, just curious.
Kids are taught not to jump out in front of cars on highways or drink cleaning supplies. Why should pointing a gun (toy or otherwise) at police officers be any different?
Any product that can simultaneously satisfy my desire to avoice walking and has an attractive bikini-clad woman demonstrating it's use is a must-buy product in my eyes.

You mean something like Star Trek 5? ;)

You have the exact same couch that I do. Did you inherit yours from your parents, too?

I don't know, those of us without CD burners might find MP3s just a *tad* more convenient than ISOs, don't you think?
>It's a shame. Great idea, marred by that one problem.
Well, that problem, and also the fact that the AI in the game is ROCK STUPID.

Yeah. To bad there's a few dozen zeros between the five nine and the decimal point.

He's talking about never using GTK+ at all, not merely using a different theme.
Don't feel too bad, the Canadian federal Liberal Party is almost as bad.

Hail Eris. :)
Funny, all the posts criticizing this one are from ACs. I, for one, thought it was funny as hell.
Wasn't that more of a Keanu Reeves schtik, though? He was in both movies.
