Pay attention. As the target comes over the horizon (waaay up in the air, doing it's parabolic best) you zap it then. No one is talking about a laser to zap the launcher itself, which could well be out of line of sight.
This isn't insightful. OP was complaining about registration required sites, not pay sites. Don't slam him for an argument he did not make. And "pay" attention next time.:)
Space: Above and Beyond was a good show (really fun show as you said) but the plots and writing were just B-movie bad. If you were willing to overlook some of the sillier aspects it was a good watch. OTOH, some of the plot lines DID have potential as well, so don't misunderstand my point...:)
Jesus. He didn't give an example of giving to health care in the US, and to you that means there aren't any? Go to the damn website (www.gatesfoundation.org -- it ain't hard to find) and read before you post drivel that's blatantly incorrect.
I am truly conflicted. This guy is either a master troll or a moron. I can't decide, but I am leaning towards the former.:)
Maybe the next comment will be the suggestion that we should eat the poor children of Maine, or maybe the Gates Foundation -- whichever you personally find most interesting.
It's the people selling MS's stock who "overcharge" each other, not Bill Gates. MS can only affect their stock by releasing information, but stock prices are determined solely by investors (and of course, de-vestors.)
Uhh...they put him in "general population" with the rest of the users. Obviously you haven't worked in that kind of situation, because it is truly a pain in the ass.
So...you're suggesting that the primary use for P2P ISN'T trading copyrighted works? You sound (incredulously) like you doubt that, unless I am totally misreading you, but I'm sorry I think common usage is against you.
As for proving it...I'd guess it'd be an interesting exercise but an unnecessary one.:)
Given the ability to do both, one is a lot more likely. You are more prone to want to talk to people you would call, or would call you, than someone you probably don't even know.
Maybe it isn't viable, but they only think that it is. Even the worse stupidity need not crash and burn immediately. Banner ads were seen as viable not too long ago, but then somebody realized they were being largely ignored, gutted the rates and came up with ways to make them even worse....and we still ignore them as best we can.
Maybe we should circulate stories that there's gold up in space, and native populations to convert / enslave / exploit / kill. That's always worked quite well in the past. I think you are just looking in the wrong place for your motivation.
Pretty sure taking a dump in space has some prior "art". Some of those guys have gone up for months at a time, you know.
However, we might just have to take their word for it. They may not have saved it, or taken pictures. Failing that though, I'm certain there are sites out there where you could find a picture and claim it's space poop.
You mean of course, once you see it you can't see anymore...

160 million, or 160 thousand? Millions would seem a bit high to me, but of course that's just off the top of my head.
The funny thing is of course, that all those useless, stupid people....are YOUR ancestors!
Heh...your point is debateable. :)
Then again maybe I am confusing normal with average. But they should be the same, dammit!

heh. Maybe you should go to one? I think you would be surprised. Sandy desert, rocky desert, desert with green stuff all over, hot, cold...
Hey! Quit talking about George Lucas like that! :)
People don't live in seawater either, but they still like going to the beach. :D
True, however this is slashdot and surely the stupid analogies posing as arguments will keep coming...
Hey now, you can't go around switching in the middle of a metaphor. That's just wrong.
Ok, build it up and leave us hanging. What kind of newspaper is B5?

So, is it less general than general programs then?

Ummm...but that's where the blood aspect comes in. :)

Bullshit. It costs too much to get them up there. They'd better never sleep! :)
