obviously the risk of abuse is there, however if implemented correctly, I think something like this could be very helpful. I've heard of incidents when people post suicide notes on their FB statuses and if there was a way for a friend to react and alert FB that information can often be helpful to the medical services professionals that may end up helping the person (such as drugs they've taken, etc)
I would bet that most vendors don't air all their dirty laundry, but that they do risk analysis and only release the bare minimum amount of information required.
AC, how can you say with such confidence that "No system you worked on crashed every 30 minutes."? I've worked in IT and have seen many systems which at times can't stay up for 30 minutes (thankfully, not systems I've been responsible for).
tech people who have believe they are all knowing and that all users are stupid are worse than any of the worst users I've had to deal with. there are assholes everywhere, some of them are users and some of them are in IT who make work even more difficult for the rest of us trying to do a good job (and of course some of them are in management but that doesn't mean everyone in management is one).
There's more to the world than T1s and T3s. Many customers have a OC-whatever or even Gb link to their ISPs and they have such agreements in place that they will pay for a certain amount of bandwidth flat fee and then pay for excess bandwidth. this makes sense in the case where there is a legitimate demand for more bandwidth at certain times instead of just providing crappy service.
I do agree that Buckeye should have been keeping a closer eye on why their usage was jumping up so high.
Have you ever been a victim of credit card fraud? I'll bet you haven't. I have, on a couple of occasions and I can tell you that it's no sweat....
one of my card #'s was recently stolen and while I was not held liable for any charges, i wouldn't say it was "no sweat". perhaps the bank I'm dealing with is just challenged, but it took 3 statements for the charges to finally get resolved and I'd much rather be doing something useful with my time (or at least sleeping or drinking beer) than talking to the bank's fraud people on the phone.
while i agree with this comment, i don't agree with it being labeled as "(Score:5, Funny)" even though i usually do find the stupidity of others funny, in this case it's damn sad.
mod this up. shit like this pisses me off. everytime my boss sends out an e-mail, he makes an assumption that it's always EST, so he's been right the last few months at least.
if you're not sure, just say, "Eastern Time" and don't make yourself look stupid by having the "Daylight" or "Standard" in when you're wrong.
the only answer i want to come out of florida at this point is "who let the dogs out?"

the only reason i read the comments on this is to see how many lame posts there would be until someone posted a bitch about this. a friend pointed this out to me as he passed me the url for this (the content is great) and both agreed it we hellalame.
listen up jerky, at least i didn't post anonymously. anyways, when i was working on my EE degree, the HPs were far superior to any of the toys put out by TI. RPN rocks!

exactly, doesn't this make one wonder "what else" SCO has given them besides the rights to use their IP rights?
ninja's are totally sweet and have real ultimate power

exactly... where does the article get this information from:
"Apparently they aren't using it to maximize bandwidth, because it's not configured to serve cached data."

he's right. it's a well known fact that HPs kick TIs ass.
