... and suddenly it's "envious greed" that casts a universal problem with happiness?
Dude, how can you disagree? Let's see:
Q: Are you a totally happy person?
A: No.
Q: Why not?
A: Because I want to be as good looking as that person, I want his girlfriend, I want to make more money, I want better health, I want more power, I want a better car, I want a better job, I want immortality...
Q: In other words, you want something you don't have??
Yes, I call that envy/greed. (Most of us are not unhappy just because others are unhappy.)
1. Create a new email account somewhere. 2. Invite the person at that address to join gmail. 3. Google has just sold that email address to SPAMMERS.
No, really try it. I'm f@#!$! pi55ed at Google!!!!!!!!
I guess they don't consider selling that email address "evil." Or maybe it's not evil because they gave it away to some poor SPAMMER in a third world country?
[I was going to switch my business, email accounts to Gmail, but first I had to create invite emails. Brand new email addresses (I own my own domain thus can create as many as I want), and the're getting SPAM now.]
1 completely ripped off (never buying out of the country again, except for Canada) 2 somewhat ripped off (not the product I wanted although equivalent) 1 pleasant surprise (video card had 256MB instead of advertised 128MB memory) 40 decent deals (enough to keep me coming back)
Do you really think if Microsoft COULD do it, they wouldn't.
Yes, I do think that. I also think the reason is because Microsoft doesn't care since users will keep on buying their software no matter what. Here's another: watch out for "studies" saying that Mozilla is as vulnerable as IE. They leave more room for Microsoft to leave bugs unpatched since that reduces the chances of users switching since they will think or say, "I read Mozilla/Firefox has bugs, too."
What were they thinking? Let's see, we missed the last million deliverable dates on all our other products due to not evaluating for enough time.
Nope, try: "Let's tell the herd that the new version of Windows will come out next year (and next year it's next year) so that they won't buy our competitor's superior products that happen to be shipping TODAY." Or something like that.
Even Microsoft was willing (eventually) to call it what it was--spyware.
I'm sure (er, I think) it was a PR move, and Microsoft had to talk with Sony to explain what they were doing and why they were doing it and that's why they didn't call it spyware right away. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if MS was (actually, is)working on adding these DRM hooks right into the Windows kernel.

I drink my coffe because it has caffeine in it.
Dude, have you considered just buying caffeine pills ? Or alternatively, you should try guarana/caffeine pills from GNC or alternatively to that, have you tried coffee from a local shop that roasts their own bean, i.e. have you tasted "good" coffee (NOT Starbucks, of course) and didn't like it, or didn't care?
1) Sell crappy software at monopoly prices. 2) Bundle whatever software somebody else is selling. 3) Pay off anyone who objects who seems serious about it. 4) Profit!!!!! !!!!!! !!!!! !!!!!
One of my favorite topics. Many of the people that Moses freed from slavery wanted to go back to slavery, and Americans today would rather have the government take care of them than make their own decisions.
Went to see a Rock band that is under contract to Sony at a venue that is owned by Sony, buy a CD there that is made by Sony, take it home, burn a copy illegally for one of my friend on my Sony computer that has a Sony CD burner using Sony blank media. My friend then plays it on his all-Sony stereo system.
I'm not sure about the parent, but two things give me an idea that the US is in decline are that:
1. The US government can take any citizen, lock him/her up, throw away the key, not tell anyone, do so legally... and the people (generally) don't effing care.
and
2. The US is now a debtor, not creditor, nation, with no end in sight. Heck, we borrow money from China to pay for the damage Katrina caused. Here
The culprit, in my and others' opinions, is the Federal Reserve.
Perhaps I'll manufacture napalm and sell it to some nice little African country, to any group that can pay in the hardest currency.
Don't forget your donations to the Republican party so they can buy some of your napalm, too!
Dude, I have been eagerly waiting for the most-excellently made Foundation series movies for over twenty years but it hasn't happened yet :(
My favorite science fiction ever!
I just hope they don't make a cheap/cheesy one with overly famous actors. Maybe an indy?

Did I say anything about Gates in my post? I didn't think so.

Maybe they need to look at cause and effect differently.
Dude, are you Buddhist?
Cool, I post my experience... Flamebait.
Wait, How about this:
Google Rocks, it's the best, Microsoft sucks, it's evil. Can I have a +1 Insightful, Moderators, please?
MS will ultimately support whatever standard is the most widely used and requested by their users and their vendors.
Hey, I thought that as a monopoly they don't care what their users and vendors want.
Sit back and enjoy your mocha-latte.
From Starbucks, of course, NOT your local coffee roaster/shop.
Try this:

Why did Microsoft...?
Dude, you can't be that dumb: Revenue Growth Nearly $3 Billion in Fiscal 2005.
That's Billion and that's growth.

it would be a mistake to think a democratic government is the best in every respect.
is the benevolent dictator or the enlightened despot. Now who wants to be it? Should one of you become it, don't forget the 152 Rules for being an Evil Overlord!
Don't stupid people pi55 you off? They're the reason why Bush is (still) president and the Patriot Act just got extended. Among other things.
What will I do all day long now?
./ while their computers reboot?
that's what I'd do, but wait... don't you already read

Erik Fromm added a lot to my view of the subject.
You can see how politicians and others take advantage of this by promising security in exchange for people's freedoms.
Anyway, I wish I could have a beer and some conversation with all you MS and Bush bashing, Linux and freedom-loving geeks!
...I for one will no longer buy Sony products.
I always thought I'd feel really cool if I :
Went to see a Rock band that is under contract to Sony at a venue that is owned by Sony, buy a CD there that is made by Sony, take it home, burn a copy illegally for one of my friend on my Sony computer that has a Sony CD burner using Sony blank media. But this never happened.
It is not up to AMD but motherboard manufacturers to support BTX.

When I think of all the time and money that has been wasted keeping Windows systems from falling over themselves...
I think of the over $300,000 that I have made the last ten years doing so.
