    I would agree. A few years ago I was trying to figure out why it was for certain that only either Bush or Gore would win. I told my friend it was because the average person is stupid he said that it was because the average person is lazy. Too lazy to think for themselves. We can tell the average person, "Look, your president wants to take all of your privacy away!" And they won't f***ing care. We can tell them, "Look, Microsoft is trying to change the way your computer works so that they and only they can determine what you can run or play on your computer..." And they won't f***ing care! It's like talking to a f***ing brick wall!

    I think that the apathy comes from laziness, which comes from the government taking so many of our decisions (rights) away from us. EVERYTHING is f***ing regulated! Marriage... What two consenting adults can do to each other privately... What you can say in public... What you can wear (in public)... Aaargh!!!!!

    So, yes, I think our government tries to make us stupid and apathetic. Ok, I feel better now, on to make some morning coffee :)

    I also wish there were a law in the U.S. that for every dollar spent on the military, a dollar had to be spent on education.

    That'll never happen because then they'd be putting themselves out of office! They can only maintain their existence as lawmakers sponsored by corporations if the population can't follow logical arguments and is easily pursuaded by arguments that appeal directly to their emotions, primarily fear.

    I have a theory that religion as we know it (except Taoism, Jainism and Buddhism) started because some guys did not have the gold and weren't big and strong either so they had a tough time getting chicks thus they invented an idea of a God so they could make some rules, appear powerful and get chicks, too. Esp. the brahman in Hinduism.

    I myself have believed for some time that it is not about profit as much as about power and control. They want to control the artists, what music is popular and who buys what.

    This power shit is scary. I believe with Dubya it, too, is about power. He (or is it everyone in government?) want to control us absolutely and to keep track of us 24x7. Aaargh!!!
