What is the big deal? I mean its not like it makes the book more expensive for you. He is doing exactly what the affiliate program is supposed to do... bring business to amazon for a small cut.
Try again. NT 3.1 was released in 1993, NT 3.51 in June 1995. Kernel.01, 1991, Kernel 1.0 1994. This doesn't even bring up the fact that much of the software has been in development by the gnu project since the early 80s.
Well... if an equivelent battery is smaller, then they could just use the origional size and get extra capacity, its not like cell phones need to get smaller until they are implants.
Source Mage (The distro formerly known as Sorcerer) checks MD5 sums on download if they are known. I don't have sendmail installed, so I don't know if it would have caught this one. I think so because the MD5 sum on file for sendmail was created on Aug. 20.
>It is nieve to think companies do anything for >the good of the consumer.
Yes of course, I see consumers bgging everyday to by poor products. Digital photography wouldn't be gaining popularity, especially in the pro area, if it wasn't a better product (at least in some areas. It is being pushed hard because of the potential. If they push hard maybe we can get better dynamic range and higher resolution projectors.
Interesting, but then how come the final result from the 1Ds looks better on both screen and print than 35mm shots? Also, does the lower noise/grain of digital not count for anything?
Sorry, try again. Depending on how many pictures you take digital is cheaper once you subtract film and developing costs. In addition, anything that can be done in the darkroom can be done (with undo) in software.
You mention experimentation is good, but then you condone the taking of 20 pictures. Which is it? Should consumers just 'know' how to get the right shot, or should they have the flexibility to throw away bad pictures without paying for them?
Kind of defeats the purpse if you aren't sure which article a poster is commenting on. It would work for some stories that are more about an issue than about a specific page, but I think that for most stories, the specific article mentioned is important.
You didn't miss any things. Supposedly he released a new and improved sorcerer under a closed source license. After doing that he put the site back up, but then stopped posting news to it. I guess he doesn't like people knowing what he is doing.
Were you asked to put it into production? Of course there are other problems, thats why its a test kernel. But maybe there is a problem that only shows up on a certain configuration you use, wouldn't it be nice(assuming you have the time) to try it out now, let them know about any problems so that 2.6 is even more stable? Isn't that the whole point of open developement?
I think the reason to seperatelaunchers and taskbars is that many users have many more apps than they would run at any given time. The concept you mention, having a button that either starts the app or brings up an already running instance works when you have less than say ten tasks, email, wordprocessing, spreadsheet, browser, etc. But for many people there isn't enough room along the bottom of the desktop to have every app have its own icon. Maybe I am missing something. However I do agree that it is a good idea for computers with a narrow set of tasks.
And how exactly does one conspire with the non-existing entity called wall street? I'm that a huge bear market is just what all of the brokers on Wall Street wanted...
IMO I would say that technology has a long way to go before it negates the need for a good driver. Having a HUD which tells you where to go is a lot different from being able to make the car go there.
On the other hand, these are all also reasons why the AC should be more interesting than F!, because it is so impossible to refine everything. If we are a long way from a comupter winning an F1 race then we are ages away from having a computer win a sailing race.
The way ssh keys work is such that if the remote machine (the machine being logged into and backed up) only has the public key, which as its name suggest is ment to be public.
Or the corollary: "If you can duct it, fuck it"

I think the jab was the comment that among online crowds MS security is reffered to as laughable.
If no one would notice if the md5 sum changed, would they notice if someone changed the public key?

What in the world happened in the pictures from you sig? Was a sink-hole or something?
Digital camcorders record to tape, just in digital instead. So you aren't limited by flash cards, you get plenty of recording time.

I think you are being a little harsh. It is possible for someone to change their mind about what they want to do you know...

I love using KDE's audiocd:/ io-slave to rip MP3 or OGG. Just type 'audiocd:/' into konq and drag the tracks to a directory, instant ripping.

The way I read it is that it makes water sheet, just like Rainx does...
Wax would actually do the oposite of this. Wax makes water bead, this stuff makes it sheet, like Rain-X does.
The race is named after the first boat that won it, the 'America' not the country that held it for 120 some odd years.

He didn't say they were going to die, just that they were going to lose. He was comparing fitness, not risk.
