Really? Because I bought a JVC VCR a little over a year ago and it has an A/V line in on the front. Since space is a premium in my family room, I get the DVD player out of the closet and plug it into the front of the VCR. The DVD picture looks fine for something coming through A/V cables. Granted, I haven't tried recording anything from a DVD, but we're just talking about viewing here.
Anybody can get there. Having "ownership" means you have a maintained presence and actively defend it. Once someone bonks you over the head and kicks you off the asteroid, you no longer own it. However, if you come back and do the same, then you can own it again.
That's why some people consider property and ownership to be a "burden."
If you can't afford $2,000, there will always be companies that will sell you a "third level" domain name for much less. For instance, I can register something like johnscanoes.com or for less money, I can go to a company like DreamHost and get johnscanoes.dreamhost.com for much less.
In fact, the high price tag of.biz might cause a resurgence of the "internet mall" idea...lots of small commercial operations all running of a similarly themed.biz domain name....like canoes.biz screwdrivershop.biz, etc.
Some people aren't too different than termites when it comes to building. Whenever I build stuff with Lego (yes, still do), I always make sure that the word "Lego" on the plastic nubbins all face forward (or to the left if installed sideways). In addition, I use I-295 to align myself in a northern direction when I sit on the floor.
Instead of weapons, we use words. A Nerf arrow to the head may surprise you for a moment, but a series of well-placed demeaning cracks can cripple one's self worth for weeks.
Other than that, we go into the Pine Barrens each year and shoot one another with paintballs. About a year ago, a colleague and myself each had windowless offices. Somebody with a window had just left the company and we were both asking if we could have it. Our president suggested that we fight it out with paintball guns. Luckily, a more senior person came to the firm and got the office, so no one had to get bruised.
My company throws away tons of good computer equipment every so often...a bunch of P166 and P200 systems, ATI Rage Pro video cards, 72 pin RAM, 2+ gig HD's. These things make great home computers if all you do is go on the net and play some low-powered games like Sim City. I can't count how many systems (or "orphans") I've saved from the trash pile and have taken home.
I even made an MP3 juke box out of some old parts and took it back to work for my listening pleasure! The specs are at www.betips.net/emp3box. I'm listed as the first news article for November. All of those delicious parts I used (except for the Compaq handheld, which was mine) were about to be thrown out by the cleaning crew.
Can't the CATV lines be used as 10 Base-2 lines? That's what I was thinking of when I wrote that. I'm not too familiar with anything before CAT 5, so I could be wrong or confused.
I hate replying to my own posts, but I found a piece of GPL'd software on www.bebits.com that may help you out.

If you're talking about sending out multiple MPEG streams, I would recommend using BeOS, as it can handle large, multiple media files without a hiccup. For a starting point, head over to the
"Audio & Video" section at www.betips.net.
True, it isn't free in the RMS sense, but when it comes to handling media with grace under fire, BeOS wins out.
At least the * makes sense here, since it's referring to something you'd dial on a cell phone.
Kind of like *BAM (for Bell Atlantic, now Verizon, customer service) and some other * services that I can't remember specifically.

Ah, he might have gotten beaten up (ie toppled), but did he get hurt? Having super powers does not make one a skillful fighter.
"Stolen" implies ownership. No one owns land. You can only use it as long as you can defend it. We're not too different from animals in that regard.
I believe this is what you're looking for.
With all the kharma whores around here, I wouldn't be surprised.
The American Revolution was illegal.

OT, but why the heck am I automatically getting 2 karma points by default when it used to be just 1 point?
Please elaborate. Thanks.

I would like to note that the article you are pointing to is from a BeOS-related parody site, called BeDope. Be *did not* sue Ebay in real life.

I don't attend the university, but I do work in the area. We could take over Palmer Square or something.
