"At ordinary temperatures it is so incredibly rare that it probably hasn't happened within the visible universe anytime in the last 10 billion years, except perhaps in the core of these electroweak stars and in the laboratories of some advanced alien civilizations."
If you're going to pretend to quote the article at least try to get it right. It says nowhere that the stars themselves can't exist now. It says that the cores of these stars, if they do exist, have conditions that haven't been seen for perhaps 10 billion+ years.
I wonder how long it'll take the otherwise intelligent geeks at/. to finally figure out that Apple is just as dangerous as Microsoft. They (Apple) just haven't gotten to the market share level they need yet to take over the world as it were.
I know I'll get modded down by all the Jobs Koolaid drinkers, but Apple is every bit as hungry and willing to use any means necessary to dominate as is Microsoft. MS is on the wane while Apple is on the rise. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
That was my first thought, but I'm also old enough to remember having to drive to the bank and wait in line. It's far more convenient to reboot with a CD in your PC than it is to go to even an ATM machine. With the proper marketing this could go a long way towards reducing online fraud.
Amusing post, but if your backup tapes are not reliable to restore then you're doing it wrong. I know you were being a bit tongue in cheek, and yes I've seen many cases where backup tapes were next to useless. In each case one could trace that to user error on the part of an administrator, often the person who setup the backup.
Yes smell is an important warning tool in the data center. This article isn't even really news, or at least shouldn't be to anyone with more than a little experience.
Actually what is fucking idiotic, to borrow your phrase, is that you took GP to be trolling and hating on Apple when all he or she did was point out some simple facts. Is Apple that much of a religion to you that you can't brook anyone making valid observations?
I chalk it up to the increasing narcissism in our society, a large part of which is the sense of entitlement and the 'I want what I want when I want it' attitude that's become so prevalent.
Then cough up the $50 per and buy new releases. This is an alternative; you can rent them.
It amazes me that people even bother reselling games. It's called disposable income for a reason. If you can't afford to dispose of it then don't spend it.
That all being said, I'll continue to buy my games. I'm not interested in this service, but there is no need to bitch and whine and moan about it.
They normally start advertising by mail and TV in an area that they are getting ready to deploy FIOS to. Odds are good that if you're getting snail spam about it that they are building out the requisite network in your area.
And exactly who will produce these cheap drugs when there is no profit to be made from them? I'm not excusing 'big pharma'; there are a lot of issues that should be addressed, specifically the collusion between the pharma lobby and government, but 'open source' is not the answer to every problem.
I can tell the time with a quick flick of my wrist and a glance while you have to pull your phone out. Then again maybe you're part of the generation that always has their phone out anyways, compulsively tweeting and texting.
First off public schools don't get much in the way of 'donations' from anyone, anywhere. Sure there are bake sales and other fundraisers but those usually go to specific programs such as band or a sports team, but donations? No, not really. 'Rich' areas get more in the way of property taxes, the primary source of local funding for public schools. The children tend to get better medical care and have better diets as well, all of which factors into performance.
Second, the average salary for a teacher is over 40k. In my district high school teachers make 50-60.
Most public school systems in urban areas spend over $15,000 per year per student, yet they are still cranking out functionally illiterate kids. It's a travesty.
By your logic then the App Store and the iPhone itself should not exist at all because I find the control freak antics of Apple to be annoying, and the articles ad nauseum all over the Internet about Apple and it's products are unwanted spam to me.
My wife works in the EE/CE departmant of a major University, and her students are consistently getting jobs. Not all fields are facing massive layoffs. A good EE or CE is almost guaranteed a job right now.
Come on now, how about a little intellectual honesty? The falsification and other shenanigans by the pro-AGW crowd have been all over the news in recent months. That doesn't make any disingenousness or innacuracy by Lombard excusable and GP didn't say it was.
The whole GW issue has become more about money (grants and taxes) and power/prestige than real science, on BOTH sides.
AGW is not a proven fact, and the shenanigans of both skeptics and supporters of the theory are doing science an injustice.
It's got nothing to do with that and everything to do with the IOC immediately declaring after the accident that it was the luger's fault because they are afraid of a lawsuit.
As long as it gets the job done it's an interesting innovation. Real time rendering of game or modern movie quality CGI would be a good thing regardless of how it's implemented.
I still hunt reds in Fel from time to time, but with all the changes such as randomizing resource locations it's just not that fun anymore unless you raid Champ Spawns.

Oh yes, that I can agree with, but I've found that in many, many cases it is bad methodology that makes backups fail rather than bad tape.

The shareholders (taxpayers) have a right to know such information. If it were a private company I'd maybe agree with you, but this is different.
That was my first thought, 'Why a smartphone'. If one is living on a limited budget one should live within their means.

Unemployment rates in the EU are higher than in the U.S. believe it or not. They have been for many years.

Mac users would go wild over spoiled moldy cheese as long as Stevie announced it on a stage while wearing a black turtleneck.

Nice troll there, really. I clapped.

"it only makes sense to allow the company who designed the user experience to allow control over the external software aspect as well."
So, Microsoft should control and distribute all software for Windows?

He is still the largest single shareholder (8%) and a non-executive Chairman of the Board. He's still quite involved with MS.
