    Except with many smartphones you aren't locked into a single point of sale. There are plenty of very good Windows Mobile applications that vendors sell directly to the consumer, for example.

    Until there is a 'cure' (if ever) they should get life sentences instead then because, as you point you, their recitivism rate is among the highest of any crime. I'd even say anyone who rapes(not just fondle, outright rape) a child under 10 should be exectued, but the Supreme Court already ruled that raping a child doesn't rise to that level.

    That depends on the lights. If I stand under my roomful of 1000 watt grow lights that I use to grow my...um tomatoes...that light is actually quite good for you.

    That is why I recommended a weak solution. It will kill the tiny nasties and brief exposure will NOT hurt the metals. I've used it a few times to clean old electronics and have yet to have any problems.

    Pure alcohol will work too, as noted by other posters.

    I can agree with that, but the '5 year' thing seems to be a pretty standard stance taken by technologists and scientists alike these days. I think it might be an attempt to attract capital. If you tell people something is 20 years away they are probably less likely to throw money at it. I'm not saying I agree with that; it is what it is.

    No MMO ever has duplicated the good, epic storylines of games like Planescape or Baldur's Gate. It's literally impossible to make EVERYONE the great hero out to save the world/galaxy/etc in an MMO. Your analogy to magazines is horrible. It's more like buying a novel that has a mediocre plot and that you have to pay for monthly.

    My really important data goes onto a disk monthly and is stored in my safe deposit box at the bank, along with other important items (orignal will, a few heirlooms, stock option paperwork [toilet paper these days], etc.)

    Yes, yes. It wasn't realistic that we'd fly in airplanes either. It wasn't realistic that we'd be able to transplant organs. It wasn't realistic that we'd put men on the Moon.

    Not one of the issues you list is insurmountable. You could say 'not ready' but 'not realistic' is just plain inaccurate.

    Give me a break. The reason is to get recurring revenue (monthly fees) for the game rather than a one shot deal. If you buy their 'reasoning' then you're very gullible.

    I've recovered from drenched electronics simply by dissassembling as far as the unit allows and letting the pieces dry in a warm, dry area. A week or two is usually enough. If you have the luxury of having an oven that goes to very low 'warming' temps you can put them in a 120-140 over for a few hours after you think they are dry for the final drying phase.

    If they were not plugged in they can be dried out and probably used again. I've never seen mold growing on electronics, but if you have mold/mildew you can wash them with a mild bleach/water solution. After they are clean flush them with distilled water and let them dry completely.

    The point you missed is that people shouldn't HAVE to google for methods to unlock their phones, but as long as people keep buying locked phones (like the iPhone and others) there is no pressure to stop the telcos from such practices.
