As for Obama, I'm still surprised that anyone at all fell for his trying to come off as some kind of 'new, post partisan' politician who decrys 'Washington politics as usual'. He's no different than any other politician, and frankly having lived in Chicago I can't imagine anyone who isn't a typical dirty lying politician to rise up like he did. Chicago is especially known for it's dirty politics.
I'm not saying he's any more evil than any other politician. I'm just saying that it's the same old same old. Still, many people seem to think he is some kind of messiah.
Not really opposing it? He supports it according to every report that I have seen. This is after saying he'd never support the bill if it had immunity for the telcos in it.
Bill Hemmer is probably one of the dumbest they've got too. Not all of them are quite so bad, but he is really a bubble headed empty suited talking head.
I watch Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, etc. I also watch BBC news and read from various outlets. NONE of them are without a bias, but generally if you use diverse sources you can get a better picture.
If I happen to have Fox on when Hemmer starts yapping, I change the channel. He is one of the most annoying talking heads on ANY network.
Ah yes, let's continue to cater our lives to the lowest common denominator. After all, taking GPS away from people who use it responsibly is far better than other solutions that might be evident...like say increasing fines for asshats who are not paying attention and hit bridges.
I could accept not issuing anymore, but spending tax money to replace plates because someone is offended by the accidental coincidence of the 'acronym' is just plain bullshit, and IS an issue. The fact that some people think it's not is just indicative of the problem. There is enough wasted tax money spent as it is.
Yep. If they can use the soil, even in enclosed pressurized greenhouses, it would be a huge boon. Carrying soil to Mars for planting would be prohibitivly expensive in terms of energy, at least for the forseeable future. The more native resources we can use the better.
Exactly. A lot of thought and effort also went into the original Consitution and to the Bill of Rights. It's a shame that we're in danger of losing those rights because of judges who think that International law or 'growing concensus of morality' can morph the meaning and application of our basic rights.
I didn't say that either. I said it just doesn't seem like an appropriate forum to me, and the value of having contributions from and to China via OSS is high and was at least temporarily damaged by this. Relax:)
I blame the Chinese more for blocking it than the project for protesting it, just for the record.
I see your point, but I am one who goes way out of his way to NOT buy products made in China, even if it costs me more to buy the equivalent made in S. Korea, Taiwain, the U.S., etc., so your last sentence doesn't apply to me. Yes, if I need something and a product made in China is the only option then I will buy it or go without, but I've been known to pay substantially more for options made elsewhere.
That's exactly the point. The idiocy needs to stop.
And to CNN, and MSNBC, and CBS, and...and...well you get my point.
I am thinking that I'll vote for Kodos.

Pennsylvania passed the law last year. You can and will get ticketed on the Interstate for cruising in the fast lane if not for passing.
I was going to suggest that we put it in the water coolers in the House of Representatives and the Senate, for BOTH sides of the aisle.

It is a matter of principle, and with all the waste in Govt' even $10 spent for silly reasons like this pisses me off.
Yeah, but it would probably be the *best* asparagus you *ever* tasted...and man...look at how GREEN it is...whoa...the colors...

Then where are the Ninjas? Hiding in Uranus?
Since you're going to be pedantic, the Wikipedia entry cleary states that the Cacao is also known as the Cocoa Plant.
There, I see your dubious Internet refrence and raise you another dubious Internet reference. People know *exactly* what is meant by cocoa plant.
They are going to use taxpayer dollars for this? If I lived in NC *I* would be the one shouting 'WTF?' for real!

Ah, ok. I see your point. We agree then.

There is a large contingent of Slashdot posters in Amsterdam apparently.
The two endeavors are not mutually exclusive. Terraforming and manned exploration could occur in parallel.

True, very true, but it hurts Sourceforge (and the Chinese people) far more than it hurts one project.
Yes it is. I wasn't aware that I had to spell out that I was expressing my opinion. Maybe I need a new sig.

Except that an OSS project is voluntary. Totalitarian Marxism is not. It is imposed by a central Government and you have no option to fork the code...
You DO know what happens in China to people who complain in China, right?
