Anyone who thinks installers belong in the kernel needs to go back to grade school, let along high school or college. A unified, easy install mechanism that worked for any linux distro would be nice, but that has nothing to do with the kernel. Installers are applications, not OS components. That holds true on Windows too, by the way. There is nothing in the Windows kernel that has anything to do with the installer.
Also, the vast majority of those 1 million motherboards per month are sold to OEM's who may or may not enable the Linux functionality on their finished product. How much do you want to bet that MS will quietly put pressure on said OEM's to disable it?
ASUS has great overclocking options in their BIOS too...until OEM's get a hold of them and put their customer BIOS in place that leaves out all the good stuff. This will be the same.
Tsunamis are not caused directly by the earthquake per se. They are caused when said earthquake causes a rapid displacement in the water, either due to an undersea avalance or a sudden drop/rise in a part of the ocean floor.
The reason earthquakes in the center/east of the U.S. are felt farther away than those on the west coast is because much of the eastern U.S. is bedrock. The shockwaves travel much farther because the substrate is denser and more 'solid'.
From what we know now you need a good solvent. Ammonia is a potential candidate. Hydrogen is not. Methane could be used for respiration in conjunction with life that evolved in ammonia.
Of course, there's plenty we do not know and it's always possible, but with the ubiquity of water and it's favorable properties it's the best place to start. Also, we may be more likely to recognize life that evolved using water as it's solvent. More alien types may just elude us.
That being said, we are talking about life on Mars here, so water would be the most likely substance based on temperature and it's prevalance in the early Martian surface.
I remember that! I had just gotten my start with homebrewing and I found quite a few of the free recipes a big help as I learned and grew my repetoire.
I've always thought of homebrewing to be a bit like Open Source anyways. The vast majority of brewers I know are more than happy to share their recipes and secrets with fellow brewers. It's an activity that lends itself to collaboration.
Even if this works, in many cases invasive species are already well entrenched and the damage is done. The example cited of the zebra mussels, for instance, has created a huge problem for some inland fisheries in the US. The problem has been known for years but nobody has really tried to do much about it until now.
Heck, I still use cash most of the time, mainly because I hate those damn Visa commercials that make it look like if you don't use your card you are just holding everyone else up. I was using my debit card all the time until those started, now I use cash just because I can and I'm an ornery bastard.
I wouldn't mind contactless payment via RFID, as long as the chip in each item I bought is disbled as I check out and leave the store.
Ask yourself why that is. I'll set aside the fact that we HAVE been directly threatened, often, since that time. Either your grasp of history and current events is very poor or you are just pressing your agenda with selective fact picking.
I know, I Have Been Trolled and I fell for it. I won't again. Have a nice day though:-)
Indeed. Most of said trolls would literally, physically shit in their pants if they had to do half of what is called for from our men and women in uniform. They are very brave when they can sit at their computer and type their hateful crap though.
Thank you for your service. The trolls here don't seem to understand that they probably wouldn't have the freedom to post offensive jokes were it not for you and your ilk.
I'd also add that the average literacy rate in the armed forces is higher than the national average.
I'll honor you more then, and I'm not an AC. Your statement was idiotic. I don't know if YOU are an idiot or a twit or just didn't think it through. Or maybe you were trolling, but still...
Thanks for the reply. That makes perfect sense. I just received word that our organization has blocked Gmail until further notice but we can afford to do so.
Nobody really knows exactly how many colors we can see. The estimates range from around 4 million to over 10 million, and it appears to vary widely between different people.
I do tend to agree that billions of colors is a waste though.
"There is no way that I can just block gmail addresses from my mail server given how huge gmail already is"
Why is that exactly? I'm not flaming, I'm genuinely curious. Every business I do work with has their own email system, and the thought of someone using Gmail for business use give me goosebumps so I am not sure blocking it would impact most organizations all that much.
I asked because I don't know why you couldn't temporarily block it. If everyone did then Google would be motivated to fix the problem a lot faster.
That should have been "I MAKE very good money" not "I very good money." Heh. In a rush, the wife is waiting to go spend money on dinner and a movie. Doing our part to help the struggling economy, you know.
I am probably what's considered upper middle class these days. I very good money, have a nice big house, eat well, we have 2 cars, etc.
When I was 19 (I'm 41 now) I spent about 4 months living off the land in the woods. I ate what I could catch/gather, lived in a tent until I had a bit of a hut built, went without baths, etc. IMO I enjoyed a very good standard of living during that time and it still gives me fond memories.
People have the right to engage in offensive speech. It's an absolute right, though not one recognized by the Canadian Constitution. You have NO right to to not be offended by someone's speech. Don't like it, don't read it.
If you are not just trolling and really believe the crap you just spewed then I am highly offended by your attitude and plan on taking you to court. You obviously hate people who believe in Free Speech and you should be duly prosecuted under the laws you seem to think are a good idea.
What about the innocent person who ISN'T texting/talking/readingthepaper/puttingonmakeup who gets killed when the asshat who is doing so crashes into them?
Quite so. Also,he worked for them, for money. That doesn't mean he's an idealogue on the topic. Many lawyers will work for just about anyone. Some take up causes, but most are just making a living.
I understand your sentiment, but then again a company has a right to do whatever they want with regards to DRM, just as I have every right to choose not to purchase any of their products if they do.
Neoprofin already posted facts so I won't, but you're just wrong. The birthrate in the US is rather low. It does skew up a bit when you count recent immigrants as they tend to have higher birth rates.

I am waiting for the first paternity suit. It should be entertaining.

The US hasn't been threatened since Pearl Harbor
:-)

I guess you didn't see my tongue in my cheek. Next time I'll use the sarcasm tag ;)

Oh come on just because the U.S. has problems doesn't mean this is acceptable in any way.
Of course not, but bashing the US is a great way to get a cheap karma bump around here.
What about the innocent person who ISN'T texting/talking/readingthepaper/puttingonmakeup who gets killed when the asshat who is doing so crashes into them?
Duh.
Quite so. Also,he worked for them, for money. That doesn't mean he's an idealogue on the topic. Many lawyers will work for just about anyone. Some take up causes, but most are just making a living.

I couldn't make it through any of them. To me they were pretty much crap, but then again I've never cared for Depp.
Just my opinion of course. Obviously a lot of people enjoyed them.
