    WRONG

Anyone who ever thinks anything like this, trying to excuse their own shortcomings, is totally incompetent.

Bugs are a management issue. Period. They don't even need to exist.

But for some reason tasks that would be management's job in engineering jobs of comparable scale in other sectors are deferred to grunt programmers, with the gold standard being "does it appear to work at the time the investors want to force a release?"

Most people still treat computers like voodoo magic. They are resistant to the idea that we have total and complete control over the medium. Even people who are trained engineers have not dispensed with this kind of attitude.

I'm not sure anyone really wants to hear my real point, but I'll cut to it.
Poor software quality is a direct reflection of the corruption in our society: no standards, no rigor, no one cares, good enough to get me back to my microcosm of comfy chairs, bright colors and loud noises is good enough to survive the eons.

This is the direct result of letting low-quality people participate in our society and assuming everyone is equal because "treat others as you would want to be treated no matter what even when they're ignorant unyielding belligerents trying to claw their way into the niche you depend on for survival"

We are chasing our tail into the grave.
