Declan knows better that the person was Commerce department so saying it's the White House made the comment is factually incorrect, but that is the media I suppose, never let the truth get in the way of a good headline.
Sad news in general that they did bother to make the comment.
Based on the bill's current list of cosponsorshttp://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z? d109:HR02795:@@@P I would be concerned. With the exception of Goodlatte and Boucher the majority of those listed have aligned themselves with media over individual and technology rights over the years.
Normally EFF(http://www.eff.org/) and CDT(http://www.cdt.org/) send out alerts. As close as this legislation was with only a two vote passage in the House, it's a real shame they fell down on the job. I think they would have been able to make a difference on this vote.
All the authors who think the EU is a successful organization don't live there. But I suppose it's just a case of the grass is greener on the other side of the ocean.
Once we get Bushy boy out of office, look for more anti-trust charges to be filed hot on the heels of the European case. R-I-G-H-T! Because if you got to http://www.opensecrets.org you'll see he only gives to Republicans, er correction EVERYONE.
CeBIT is down as well, not as bad as the American shows, but a trade group from Northern VA went this last year and said it was a big disappointment compared to years past.
Not InternetWorld with empty halls you could ride a bike through mind you, but it still took a hit.
Nice idea, but honestly Congress is in a lame duck session for the 107th Congress, waiting until January and promote it's passage in the 108th Congress would have greater impact at this stage of the legislative calender it won't go anywhere.
For the expected cost you may be better off just using the American, the key combinations on American keyboard for umlaut and ss aren't that difficult. Open Apple U then the letter for umlaut and Open Apple S for ss
Granted if you are used to the German keyboard that may make the expense worth while, but it doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

A damn shame because if Pets could it might raise the level of debate.
I would also look into sending a CD to Blogcritics for review, it is a fairly new site, but is the effort of a number of high traffic bloggers so it will become increasing known.
and no I am not associated with them, but have friends who are:)
In the recent Pickling episode your Evil Brother demostrated his culinary talents, will we be seeing more of him in the future? Potentially an enitre Good Eats perhaps?
Digital Consumer was there, they spoeak on behalf of the public, Michael Epstein, (not as reported Tom Patton) from Phillips also has spoken on customer interests.
He would include protections, from these kind of orders in his new privacy bill, but considering that Disney wouldn't like that, I doubt it. Seriously people should write their Senators and Congresscritters about including/adding these protections against this kind of privacy invasion in ANY legislation proposed right now.
Keep them off my computer, tv, and me, thank you very much.
France doesn't have the difference between State and Federal systems, like US and actually Germany. They said in above...'will give every citizen a personal internet portal allowing them to pay taxes online, That's federal(or state or local), it's alittle annoying, but we can do it here(at least federal and some states).
register a child for a state school, School Boards are run locally, so each has their own, not all that surprising considering the schools are at variable levels of technology
or be reminded that their regulatory car inspection is due in a month's time' This is usually done on a state level.
So they cite three different activities and we as a nation handle them on three different governmental structure, we don't have the over arching Federal Govt that gets into local matters.(well within reason) So it's not surprising we don't have the same level here, even with greater population, we split the power up between the government levels.
An average congressional staffer at this time of year works AT LEAST 50 hour weeks for less than a decent wage. Most folks have multiple topics i.e. when I was a staffer I handled responses for Banking, Postal, Commerce, Tech, and some Transportation. An issue like this the mail floods in both snail and email. The goal generally is to get a response turned around in 2 weeks if possible. You try to respond directly to a specific questions and points but it's difficult you get 15,000 letters on the same topic. That being said some members will still reveiw and hand sign every letter (though generally from rural districts).
But think of it in these terms if 15K letters is an average work load in a week (at 50 hrs a week) and you just work on those letters after two weeks it's still 150 letters an hour. Regardless of any work on the legislation that is going on the Hill, keeping up with the budget bills and other bills staff are expected to track.
Not an excuse, just remember, behind those faces on tv and those speeches, there are actual people working their butts off.
Any comments you send to the FCC I would include a CC: to Sen. John McCain since he is the one that put the language into the Appropriations bill December.
You can email him at john_mccain@mccain.senate.gov.

I'd refuse to see another vehicle to state agency.
If the whole school goes BSOD and your a Senior does that mean you have to go back to being a Freshamn for the restart?
For some strange reason I am reminded of Jimmy Carter's report Global 2000.
