It's also interesting that at very low amplitudes, our ears (perhaps ear/brain combination) are much more sensitive "edge" detectors than CW detectors. For example, you can usually hear very well the sudden turn-on or turn-off of a low-decibel sound, but its sensation goes away when it's left on for more than a few seconds.

Windows Update - Using Genuine Linux Distro "Ubuntu". Result? No licensing restrictions, no DRM, no repeated system restarts, no service packs to fix the previous service pack, that fixed the previous service pack, that fixed months old critical bugs. While I might pick a nit with the choice of Ubuntu, the philosophy is spot-on. For those having to use Windows once in a while, there's always http://windizupdate.com/ .

Try buying clothes (or equipment such as sleeping bags) for a "tall" person, though. Usually about 15 - 20% more expensive than other clothes/equipment.

Using the golden section is not particularly clever; the cleverness lies in the golden section itself and its apparent ability to enhance artistic beauty. Since it has been shown to do so in terms of visual arts [...] Meh. Yes, rectangular thingies appearing with something close to the golden ratio are often visually "balanced". And it does appear quite often (though one usually has to look closely for it) in nature. However, the spate of finding the golden ratio in every bit of classical architecture and sketch by Da Vinci is annoying when you realize that the findings are pretty much artistic numerology: The ratios are ALWAYS approximate (as they must be), and usually VERY approximate, along the lines of "Gosh, this thing and this thing are in the ratio of 1.5 to 1... It's the golden ratio!", and "If I just tweak this line to lie here, under this, instead of over that, well, that's pretty close to the golden ratio."

I'm not aware of any artwork touted as having deliberately included the ratio in it, and being particularly pleasing.
