If you are on a student visa, you're not supposed to be making money by working, you're supposed to be studying. no I know there are ways around this, but with most of them, if you get caught, you go home.
Um, not to mention the fact that there are (in the US) court precidents explicitly saying you CAN resell software, music, game discs, etc (can't recall the cases but I can look them up if you want citations)
not even close to the same thing, more like leaving your tv and beer on the sidewalk in front of your house and all of the doors and windows open and all of the lights on... entering the HOUSE (other computers on your home network) would surely be trespassing, but watching your tv, maybe even having the beer, is fair game, if you leave something on the curb, unless it has a for sale sign on it (wep, wpa, mac filtering, etc), it's pretty much free stuff, this isnt really all that different -
... that at this stage of the game "Nondescript Old Beige Box In The Corner" still garners the most Linux server installation title... but that's not good marketing I suppose
ahem, wouldn't an application that destroys/changes settings/drivers/files that you (or another user or app) put there be a DMCA violation, or at the very least, be the moral if not the literal equivalent of mal/spy ware? am i missing something?
And not just MS, phones suck for anything other than being phones, ok, camera phones are fun, but, the pic quality is crap, give me something that will be as good as my phone, camera, pda, mp3 player, and camcorder, that has like a 5 year warranty, will connect flawlessly and instantly to my Linux, Windows, and Mac systems, and can survive the abuse my phone takes: dropped, kicked, stepped on, puddles, rain, snow, etc, etc, and even if it cost a couiple of thousand $US I'll buy one, maybe two! Otherwise piss off with the all-in-one baloney ESPECIALLY if it comes from MS - sheesh!
In reference to the "family values" comment modded troll for some reason - he was right: Actually, it does, indirectly. Unfortunately this and other issues are conveniently ignored by the "religious right", their "interpretation" of the Bible, like that of most fundamentalist movements, tends to be inductive in nature. The number of Biblical quotes taken out of context, especially by "Evangelicals" is staggering. (See war, capital punishment, capitalism, and social justice issues, care for the ill and poor, etc., etc. most of the American Religious Right's take on these issues is misinterpreted at best and blatantly false at worst to what the "Gospel" (whether you believe in it or not, not the point here) actually says.) I am both an American and a Christian though at ties I am not so proud to call myself either because of the aforementioned issues, among others.
I agree 100% I do this ANY time something like this happens. I've never sholifted, never will. They can see what's in my bag when they pay me for the time and follow me home, or to my next stop,I am stopping for no one unless they have a badge, and even then they had better do it right or they are going to be doing a lot of sitting across from me in court. Defend your rights, or lose them.
Amen, brother! I am so sick of the "They're stealing OUR money" attitudes from businesses, especially when they are selling a product that is "for the public good". Profits are OK, but they have their place BEHIND the public good. It's kind of like Nintendo estimating their "losses(*cough*)" on NES games they havent even made in YEARS but are being PIRATED (see the article about this yesterday (or wait for the editors to dupe it)!
The funny thing is that, my experience is exactly the opposite. Darn near anybody can memorize a bunch of "facts" and pass a cert exam... anybody. Event the more "practical" ones are game-able. Having a university degree in anything shows, you have the ability to learn things you know nothing about, and apply that knowledge thoughtfully. To use more the ability to learn and adapt, rather then just the knowledge/experience that is in your head is much more important in most jobs, because things change. In an old job I had I interviewed/supervised uni undergrads in a co-op situation, most of who had never done what we did, or even seen it for that matter. They were loads more fun, smarter, and quicker learning than the typical guy/gal with "10 years industry experience" or the freshly minted "MCSE" the PHBs sometimes foisted on us. Give me an educated person with curiosity and the ability to learn/be trained/think for him/her self over a truckload of hands-on experience almost anytime.
um, if you have unlimited refills, and the customer bought a product with unlimited refills, you really can not kick them out unless they are causing trouble, and you had better have a good reason or it's "hello lawsuit" especially if they are a protected minority or a member of the opposite gender - that's the reason some places have a minimum bill per table or limited or no refills - been there done that
Heh, that's basically what "traffic detail" is anyway, albeit without the clubbings (usually).
Speeding and running lights and signs is simply moving-violation roulette, in which the house has a BIG disadvantage, therefore you usually win.
Kinda like "the war on drugs" or "stopping movie/music/software piracy".
Gimmie a break, police REAL crimes, and tax the REAL spending, all taxes should be point of sale, you buy ANYTHING, you transfer ANYTHING of value, you pay tax, period, no exceptions... I'd LOVE to see the billionaires (and everyone else) pay their fair share without being encumbered by the IRS, etc.
Sorry for the rambling, grammatically incorrect rant but i am in one of those moods.
PS The inheritence tax should be DOUBLED, not reduced, stupid fucking rich right wingers, they didnt earn it, let them feel a little pain by coughing up a bit for their fat inheritances, and dont get on about farms either because thats a bullshit argument easily circumvented as well.
That if you didn't EARN the money, you didn't LOSE the money. If I pirate XP, MS lost nothing, 'cuz I ain't gonna BUY it. If I use a wifi hot spot rather that whatever (enter wireless carrier crap du jour here) is ofering, they didn't LOSE money! They failed to make a sale. Why does the public allow concepts like: projections that fall short, missed sales, "losses" due to "piracy", "street value" of drugs and/or goods - legal or otherwise, to be counted on real numbers when they are largely based on fantasy and wishful thinking? Are people really that stupid? (Don't answer that, I already know the answer). But it just makes me want to scream./end rant
No really, s/he's right. SP2 was a nightmare when it first came out, hosed a lot of systems.
You might be trying to be funny, but you're a fucking moron, please for the good of humanity, kill yourself... now!

Ooh, I am SO moving to Germany!

... and as mentioned above, windows powertoys, and a whole bunch of firefox extentions
gotta be
seeing as he never said that... at least not in context
... but i'll say it again:
You can have it:
Cheaper
Faster
Better
Pick two
Whereas the managers (not all, but too many of them, are unrealistic)want:
Free
Now
Perfect
