The 1000x increase refers to the the estimated limits of the technology, I'd assume, not the actual power of the ps3 This is a ridiculous violation of Moore's law and it is supposed to be broken in the other way.
Expect the ps3 to be out in 2-3 years with about 10x the performance of the ps2, or possibly 20x seeing how outdated the ps2 is now.
Vegetable oil requires farmland, so I hope it won't be economically feasable. If it is we can just kess what little is left of the rain forests good bye as third world nations look to profit on the new cash crop.
Motor oil is specially formulated not to change viscosity too much or burn at the high temps inside engines. Fry oil burns slowly @ 350 and leaves behind a nasty residue. It would burn off and gunk up the engine in no time becuase there is no where for the vapor to escape. Plus motor oil is relatively cheap.
There are a slew of other chemicals in coffee so perhaps one of these or a combination of many might be the key. There really isnt a way to test this though.
What the hell are you thinking by making this claim? Cracking the Xbox is tit compared to designing it form the ground up. And even that was not to complicated a task for modern technology.
If this is so hard then perhaps your time would be better served developing a clean and efficient source of power or perhaps building a functioning quantum computer.
The people that don't take full advantage of it. Having all the luxuries afforded to memebers of a 1st world country tends to produce rather lazy people in some instances. We all have the chance to take advantage of the free schooling but many just goof off. I think this has more to do with the parents rather than the system. People that have made it just assume that their kids will too without instilling any sense of the need to work for one's things. Many well off parents just give their kids everything they ask fo and just assume everything will turn out all right in the end.
The reason no one talks about second world is due to the collapse of the USSR. I guess China still fits this bill. The majority of its people live in 3rd world conditions, yet clearly it is a world power
I have to take out loans in order to feed myself and would definately have not bought most of the tunes I download. Many of them I delete after listenning to them once. Would it make any sense for me to spend 18 bucks on something I would end up throwing away?
Their prices are too high and their product is usually too shitty
DvD rips are usually available weeks or even months in advance and they are of very good quality. DivX movies are better than VHS quality. I watch alot of DivX because I can and it's easier than renting from Blockbuster. The movie "Dangerous Life of Alter Boys" has been out as a DVDrip for a few weeks and it just started to play in the local theater. It's also easier to obtain foreign films.
The same goes for Mp3. Full versions of albums are typically out at least a week before the reatil hits the store, however some albums are out many months early. Radio HEad's Amnesiac was out 2+ monhts aerly and Recently Frank Blacks 2 new Cds due out in mid August have been out in the scene since May 1st.
DivX movies cannot be played on a standard player as of yet so there really is little comparison. Mp3 on the other hand can be played on all sorts of portable devices or burned to an audio CD. DVDr's Exist and images can me downloaded at 4.7 GB a pop. THere really is no point. Once there is a DivX player then the industry could be screwed because DivX releases as with Mp3's are usually available weeks or even months in advance.
I thought that too once untill I actually watched it. They did the same 3 minute intro again and again but had many different episodes that were different.
I really don't see how this type of crap can continue for much longer. Radio stations should play songs that fit their genre and see if peoiple like it. I used to listen to the radio in hopes of finding something new, but all they play is what they are payed to play. I guess I'll just have to resort to listenning to my mp3's:)
If M$ sells alot of games then the hardware loss is moot because it is more than made up for. Unfortunatley for them people like me only want one to play DivX movies and other media files.
I found the CD to be quite boring. I own Play and Downloaded 18. I don't even desire to listen to it again. I think the lack of high sales is due to both piracy and crappy music

Sure some of it is reading good informative stuff but alot is just wasting time.

You can set it to rates your monitor "cannot" display. I have mine set to 1920X1440 and my monitor can only "do" 16*12
