Liberal and "Progressive" ideas cannot be anything but marginalized. Liberal ideas are not progressive, they are anything but. They are trying to revert society to a culture of impulses and desires rather than what is appropriate.
Liberal ideas ARE in fact a milder child to communism and socialism. You all want to have everyone share in a hippie utopia rather than get to keep what you earn. Gay marriages, please. Marriage is a covenant of sanctity, not something to be bastardized by two men or women joining together in "unholy matrimony". I don't know about you, but I just can't seem to plug a mouse into another mouse; it seems to only plug into a female port. We were created sexual beings meant to be with a member of the _OPPOSITE_ sex for procreation. That's why it doesn't work so well the other way.
You can try to "marginalize" my ideas, but I know I'm correct. I sincerely hope you don't live in California, and if you do, I sincerely hope you don't vote.
For background on me, before you start making comments about "he's probably 45" or "he's a raving lunatic", please see my site for background info. I'm a 20 year old card-carrying Republican who knows what's right. No one gives me ideas, I formulate them on my own. For what it's worth, I believe in legalized marijuana. I think we create more deaths in the black market by outlawing it rather than just letting people kill themselves with it. You never hear about a cigarette or beer deal gone bad with 2 deaths.
I hear this a lot from people and I have been laid off a couple of times in the last couple of years. I can say this: working for jerks is better than not working when you have bills and rent to pay.
I agree, I purchased a track from BuyMusic, subsequently tried to play it in winamp, and found out that the plugin does not work. I planned to use the disk writer output plugin to turn that music into something that I can play in my car, like mp3s. However, I am not going to burn each song to cd from that lossy original and then rip it back into mp3.
I can ONLY play it in WMP. Needless to say, I will not be purchasing more music from BuyMusic.com
The kiosks are a lot more useful than the box office people. You can see at a glance all the movies, their times, how many seats are left. It lets you decide if you want to see that movie or another based on those factors. It also doesn't check id(although on new movies they sometimes do at the door). I am of legal age, but I hate having to show my ID.
I think it is so funny with my peers who "don't believe in credit" and one of my friends who literally does not have a bank and keeps all of his money at home. They are standing outside in the freezing cold or burning hot(whichever it might be at the time in Louisiana), while I walk inside, tap a screen a few times, swipe my card and wait for them to walk in with a smug look on my face. It doesn't get much better than that.
I wish I had mod points to mod up your reply to me because I literally just laughed out loud at work. I think it was mainly the "boing". However, they didn't CHANGE their name, they BOUGHT another company.
Ok, I'll play the analogy game too:
Let's say your mom(linux) had the best fudge recipe in the whole world and no one knew that she stole part of the recipe from Chef(unix puchased by sco). Then she released that recipe to the world on the internet. Next Chef purchased all rights to a company that was selling a version of your mom's free recipe because he loved it too. If Chef finds out then that part of it was stolen from him, mom can't simply say, "Ha ha, you bought me and I had already released it as open, so your recipe is open."
I realize all of that was stupid but so was yours. However, yours was funny.
Everybody knows wookies don't live on Endor, you must acquit.
No, that's stupid. I keep hearing this over and over. That was the Santa Cruz Operation, not the new SCO. The new SCO has never released a version of linux, period.
From their site:
SCO History
Caldera, Inc. was founded in 1994 by Ransom Love and Bryan Sparks. In 1998, Caldera Systems, Inc. was created to develop Linux-based business solutions. In 2001, Caldera Systems, Inc. acquired the assets of the Server Software Division and Professional Services Division of The Santa Cruz Operation, Inc. (SCO), forming a new company, Caldera International, Inc. In 2002, Caldera changed its name to The SCO Group (Nasdaq: SCOX).
What did you set the renderer to to get it to do d3d or opengl? What was the line. I'd like to install(copy the files over manually and run the exe) it again.
I know that it is crappy framerates and stuff because it is a totally unoptimized alpha build. I can't wait for the real thing(and yes I will buy it). I just wanted to see what it LOOKS like now. And it looks great!!! I did not mean to be discouraging or anything. I played an alpha of ut2k3 as well(it was called unreal 2 then). It also looked great but performed slowly and look at it now; it runs fine on a gf2.
Companies are not going to sell a software product that requires the newest video card/proc/mem/hdd/whatever else because then you SIGNIFIGANTLY increase your lowest common demoninator. Companies want to get the MOST people to purchase the game as humanly possible, while keeping the quality of the graphics and gameplay at a maximum to make them purchase it in the first place. I'm sure that is hard to balance, but companies seem to do it well and you can usually play on 1.5 year old hardware. I have a 1900+/512MB/180GB/GF4-4400 and I don't see upgrading for a LONG while.
You need at least a R9600/FX5600 to play at a descent frame rate. [tomshardware.com]
Hey, I liked Descent's frame rates. That was a great game and it came with my Creative ModemBlaster.
On a related note, I've played a D3 alpha and it runs VERY slowly on my GeForce4 TI4400. I mean like 13fps standing looking at a door with smoke and stuff in between. When you start shooting a big drunk alabamaman up close and personal who looks like he just got out of a bar fight after beating his wife, then it slows down to like 3 fps. But I can't even describe to you how good the drunk, beer-belly alabaman looks. In the polygon sense of course.
Thanks for the link from your site about the Timex Internet Messenger watch for 40 bucks. I just ordered it as my current timex has taken all the licking i could give it(data link), face is scratched and damn speaker spring got bent(by me) when changing a battery one time and the diaphram isnt working correctly. Result: intermittant sound.
Excellent man, thanks. I just tried that, and it worked. I don't get it though. All xbox games are HDTV aware and at least support 480p, but they all split the screen horizontally. That's retarded on my 16:9 55" screen. Oh well, at least i can multiplayer now; thanks.
I want multiplayer on the console on my xbox with Unreal Championship. It is an exact clone of UT2003, and I can play online with Live, but I want to be able to have two people play locally split-screen. I don't know why they thought that was cool to leave that out.
Bandwith is a recurring charge. Is this budget to just setup the line or to pay for it for a period of time. That is a big factor.
As far as what you stated, it seems adequate. That is the same # of people I support at work and we have dual p4's as well with 3 disk raid5 and 1gb ram on linux.
Dude, lighten up. He was making fun of the FORMER Iraqi Misinformation Minister. He actually proposed that it was a movie set and that we were not there. He said we weren't anywhere near Baghdad. It truly WAS comic gold to see him say that. Unfreakinbelievable. Heres some quotes from him:
"Their infidels are committing suicide by the hundreds on the gates of Baghdad. Be assured, Baghdad is safe, protected."
"They're not even [within] 100 miles [of Baghdad]. They are not in any
place. They hold no place in Iraq. This is an illusion... they are
trying to sell to the others an illusion."
This one is good, the day we took the airport:
"Today we slaughtered them in the airport. They are out of Saddam International Airport. The force that was in the airport, this force was destroyed."
"NO", snapped Mr al-Sahaf, "We have retaken the airport. There are NO
Americans there. I will take you there and show you. IN ONE HOUR!"
This REALLY cracks me up, as if they even have PATRIOT(not the act) like systems:
"Listen, this explosion does not frighten us any langer. The cruise missiles do not frighten anyone. We are catchign them like fish in a river. I mean here that over the past two days we managed to shoot down 196 missiles before they hit their target."
Regarding the scuds we shot down with PATRIOT missiles:
"It has been rumored that we have fired scud missiles into Kuwait. I am here now to tell you, we do not have any scud missiles and I don't know why they were fired into Kuwait."
"They are sick in their minds. They say they brought 65 tanks into center of city. I say to you this talk is not true. This is part of their sick mind."
"Our initial assessment is that they will all die"
This is regarding the THOUSANDS of pow's we have of theirs:
"Those are not Iraqi soldiers at all. Where did they bring them from?"
Sorry for editorializing, but I wanted to put them in perspective. Iraqi Bob, as FNC and others have dubbed him, is HILARIOUS. He really is. I could listen to him all day.
When I worked for Best Buy and we sold this crap, I would just uninstall the software from the user's computer and make a manual connection through dial-up networking. Another poster mentioned this, but I'll tell you how to go about it.
Since MSN shares their access lines with other ISPs you have to specify which you are using by doing the following.
Use for the username: MSN/username and then the password is the same And of course, the access # you can get from the software itself or by going to msn.com and looking up access numbers in the search box.
So once again to recap: Phone #(access #) username: MSN/username password: password
I got to reapply for my job and find out right after Christmas if I get to keep it. Oh yeah, and a 15 dollar gift card to a local grocery store. Pretty funny.
And when I tried to connect it, it went AAHARRRGHHHHHHHHH. So I saved Christmas. But then their software made my computer go boo beep de boop deep, and then my paper was gone. So I had to write it all over, and it wasn't as good.
My name is Chris, and I didn't install roadrunner software on a mac.
A[space]lot. Learn to spell. This is one of the reasons that I don't like slashdot. People seem unable to spell or use the simplest of grammar when articulating to the masses. I know the poster used preview as there were no other errors, but you would think among a community of geeks, there would be less people who type alot instead of "a lot". Similarly, why do people type hear instead of here or use their/there/they're incorrectly. It just doesn't make sense.
People say that English is one of the most difficult languages to learn, but if you learn it as you primary language, you should be able to represent yourself as a fluent speaker of said language.
I know this is off topic, but it needs to be said. I know now that the moderators will have fun on this one.
