"The editors are there to seperate the wheat from the chaff."
Oh, you really didn't just say that... Do you really want to recount the all too numerous number of hoaxes, spam headlines and just plain assnine stories that have made it to the front page with these so-called chaff seperating "editors" at the helm??? No, their work is more akin to strip-mining. They take stories that grab their attention and dump them wholesale onto this site with barely a cursorary background check at times.
They aren't journalists and I can accept that. But even editors is too rich of a word for what they do. At most Slashdot is a hub where people post stories and the people who run it do the absolute minimum in their posting. In effect, everybody else does their job for them. Not that I have a problem with it, but lets overhype their job here.
And to that other guy, it's only a conflict of intrests if you claim that your organization is some how unbiased or impartial in some way. To my knowledge, Slashdot has never claimed that and has every right to hype their own products on their own site. It doesn't exactly look the best when it comes to credibility, but then, neither do the dupes, spam and other crap that make the front page, so who am I to judge?
Cripes it's certainly taken long enough. hald this shit should have been implimented since day one and I've been advocating said implimentation nearly as long. I mean, how you can roll out with such basic features is beyond me....
"This step comes after Microsoft's recent admission that Linux is Microsoft's biggest threat after economic conditions."
Heh, doesn't this make anybody else just chuckle to themselves? It's like the lion saying that between a gopher, a squirrle and a rat, the gopher is it's biggest threat. I know it'll get modded flame or troll, but lets put things into realistic perspective here...
Yep, exactly like that. the only reason I didn't include a link to the SP was cuz I thought the Wizard was a better representation as to the over all size and LCD.
"Hardly Anyone Cares About Computer Voting Problems"
Just a note, but hardly anyone cares about computer voting period. It's not even a blip on the radar for most people. And those who do know already realize there are people with a PC, an internet connection and way too much time on their hands waiting for this sort of opportunity to play around.
Just a minor revelation while speculating as to the PSP's size, but I'll bet the damn thing is a clamshell configuration. I figure the screen is the best indication of the unit's overall size, in this case a 16:9-format widescreen TFT LCD (480x272 pixels, 24-bit full color). Kinda beefy if you're thinking of a classic flat gameboy layout. There the PSP was looking not so portable.
Then I remembered my trusty Sharp Wizard organizer that solves the problem nicely. My OZ-9500 (not pictured) is about 4x6 inches and sports a nice wide screen (16:9?). This would provide any gamer with acceptable portablility (albeit not pocket) without sacrificing screen size or hardware. There aren't too many other ways to configue the unit without giving it a large footprint...
Well, congratulations. You named one product in Sony's vast array of electronic innovation that has failed you; where I can tell you that I operated my PSX on the abusive environment of an aircraft carrier where it was played 24/7 (by day and night shifts), moved and manhandled on a regular basis without failing once in my ownership of the console.
Beyond your issues with that one product, I have to say that most of their electronics lines are very well made, from experience no less. I've owned at least three of their portable audio products and an array of headphones and the only times any of them have ever failed me was after I abused them in some extreme way (dropped from height onto a steel deck for instance). Sony isn't the only portable audio hardware I buy (price factors in), but it is on the short list of consideration.
Sorry, but Sony does produce great hardware in most cases. You seem to have run into problems, but considering the PSX and PS2 have been the best selling consoles world wide for over a decade now should clue you in to the fact they must be doing something right. A lot of something as a matter of fact.
I just threw the words in there because I didn't feel like looking. I know there have been documented cases of "harversting" so I figured that'd be the quickest, dirtiest way into convincing you it isn't something out of law and order. I'm sure if you insert the words "crime" and "fraud", in place of "scandal", you'd find a few more interesting tidbits.
Isn't one PC game playing console enough already? This is just a bad idea in SO many ways. For one, PC games have never been plug & play unless they have been heavily modified for the box they run one which makes them propretary whether the submitter/company admits it or not. And sorry fo yas, but the words PC games and console are mutually exlusive, especially when one includes the word "patch", whci in itself implies, crashing, freezing stuttering and other bugs PC games are regularly shipped with. Speaking of PC games, how do these people intend on keeping up with the ever increasing demand games place on their hardware? After all, an Entry Model also implies other models will be availible as well. With better spec undoubtably and the same uneven playing field as a PC provides.
See? Yet another bastard PC gaming child that will crash and burn with the rest of them.
While it's nice and kinda classy, we all know this sort of production is only OK because it's not being mass produced. If this ever became popular, I wonder how long it would be before you heard the tree nazies coming out of the woodwork complaining about bamboo depletion and such. After all, how many bicycicals does a place like China have? After all, bamboo produces more oxygen than it's pulp counterparts, making it far more valuble, etc etc etc...
You know, I was kind of hoping for useful, less painfully obvious ways to avoid the RIAA. I mean really. If we're using this program to begin with, it stands to reason we already know exactly what removing out files or not sharing would do.
I mean, where's the real info here? Like how you don't see any "defaultuser@kazaa" names on that email list. Or using the newest versions of K++ and Kazaa Lite that have 1st generation RIAA counter-measures. I guess if you're audience is the noob (or you're actually more afraid of the RIAA than you care to admit) then the EFF's basic lawsuit avoidiance steps will work, but forgive me for saying so, but I'd wager that most people know exactly what they're doing with Kazaa, rendering this meager info page utterly useless.
Come on. We should all know by now that cute little podmobiles simply don't sell in America, just like MS won't cooperate with a Linux XBox and just like the Segway didn't revolutionalize the world. I can't think of any podcar that has succeeded anywhere to be produced in mass quantities for that matter. Aside from the fact that the little bastard strikes me as a rollover nightmare from hell, let alone actually taking it up to any speed above 60mph.
I'll give em props for a nicely finished product. It looks very professional. But hopefully they realize this car is nothing but a stepping stone, because it isn't going anywhere with that design.
You do know this is going to bring all the Box and Cube fanboys out of the woodwork, right? Nevermind the fact that it's a natural part of the PS2 sales cycle to finally experience a platue after over five years of undisputed industry dominance. This is the only thing that can sooth that ass-pounding their console has been recieving at the hands of the elderly piece of hardware.
Yes, fanboys. You're console is number one. Now drop your pants and bend back over.
I've noticed this becoming an increasingly alarming problem on the Xbox, and part of it is due to the PC port mentality they seem to have. This was especially apparent in games like Morrowind and Ghost Recon. We're talk roach motel. Live games have seen this problem with a vengence as the "patch it later" menatlity of the PC is taking increasing hold. Not only are they shipped with obvious bugs, but timely patching is a fanciful illusion. Honestly, I laugh everytime I hear somebody mention a patch for a Live game.
I wish I could say it was getting better, but this is one area where the PC seems to be overrunning the console and not vice versa.

We're only now figuring this out after how many Slashdot articles on the topic??? Pot calling Kettle, come in Kettle...
Sigh.

It's not that big of a deal yet. Really.
Wow, somebody (me) has owned an Xbox since day one and done the Live beta thing. No raving sony lunatic here. Just my experiences with them.

Law and Order? Nah. Try Google. I don't feel like diving for links at the moment, but that should start you well on your way to Organ Donor mistrust.
Yeah i do. I seem to remember a few stories to that effect, though I'm don't exactly feel like mining links at the moment.

This will have to suffice:

Another one! When did I call Bamboo a tree?! Anybody else care to point out that fact?????
And when did I say it was a tree?
"...or a scary flashback to how early 'subscription-only' fire departments worked?"
Or make less of an effort to save you because your organs are so badly needed. It wouldn't be the first time.
While that's true, I doubt it'll matter to certain parties too much.
You're score is "redundant".
