Look, the epitome of the good Christian is to live like Christ, yeah?

Take away the company (ie fork the code) and you'll need to forge such a community. Baloney. That may have been true in 2002 but not now. There are plenty of DV cameras that let you use either USB or IEEE 1394 (or FireWire(TM) if you must).

Since the vast, vast, vast majority of PCs have USB connectors and don't have 1394 connectors guess what people who own these cameras use? Vast. And since it's DV, the quality is exactly the same over the USB connection as the 1394 one. Perhaps it's not "proper" since it's not an open standard and required drivers. Some users would still be better off with 1394 for the short term since DV over USB isn't yet very well supported by Linux.

Perhaps you're confused with cameras a couple of generations ago that would capture low-resolution low-frame-rate video to an SD card which was transferred to PC via USB mass storage emulation.

High colour support (>=12-bits per channel) is a killer feature IMO. The current 8-bit limitations lead to horrible colour aliasing very quickly when working with any continuous tone images such as photos.

  15. Re:So... on Firefox Memory Leak is a Feature · · Score: 1

Well would you look at that. After R'ing TFA I found the option right there taking up half the article:

For those who remain concerned, here's how the feature works. Firefox has a preference browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers which by default is set to -1. When set to this value, Firefox calculates the amount of memory in the system, according to this breakdown:
    RAM Number of Cached Pages
    32MB 0
    64MB 1
    128MB 2
    256MB 3
    512MB 5
    1GB 8
    2GB 8
    4GB 8

    (reference: nsSHistory.cpp)

No more than 8 pages per tab are ever cached in this fashion, by default. If you set this preference to another value, e.g. 25, 25 pages will be cached for every tab. You can set it to 0 to disable the feature, but your page load performance will suffer.

I'm still not fully convinced though - I can have a dozen windows open with 20 tabs each and after a few days that takes up a lot of memory as expected. However you would expect that memory to be released when you close most of the windows/tabs. Not the case. You have to actually exit the entire program before any memory will be freed. And it's not just 'ps' reporting shared libraries since the entire system performance suffers noticeably.

I wonder if the CloseTab() function forgets to clear the history buffers for that tab? Maybe it's time to investigate talloc().

That is just simply not true. Islam is not a peaceful faith by any definition of the term. Well it is, in that peace is promised once your foot is on your brothers' neck.

With the arrival of Christ on earth, Love Thy Neighbour took precidence over any past enmity between people. In fact pre-Christ writings (latter books of the Old Testament) are already heading in this direction. One example from the OT: "Do you think I enjoy seeing people suffer? No, I'd rather they repented, and obeyed me".

Islam, however is just about the other way around. Muhummad came along and preached all sorts of lovely peaceful messages, then picked up a sword and said "Right enough talk, let's go cut up some infidel".

That's why we see what's hapenning right now in the Philippines:

    (knock knock)
    "who's there?"
    "Are you Christian or Muslim?"
    "Christian"
    *BLAM* *BLAM* "Allah Ackbar!"

The billion or so Muslims who you claim are peacefully living their lives are either taking a very narrow distorted view of the Koran or (more likely) quietly desire to see the black flag of Islam over the worlds capitals, and silently support the actions of the extremists.

They're trying to establish every country as Muslim states, of course. All the beef you eat is already halal, right? Don't be surprised if pork and skanty clothes are outlawed in a few years if the current population trends continue.
