Wait, whoa, hold on there for a minute. Did you just say that incarcerated people in the USA do not get to vote?
Is that really the case?
Holy shitballs on a crap cracker, cannot you see the MASSIVE potential for abuse there? If you live in that... what I can only call a dictatorship, then you must do something about it.
Personally, I think that a smartwatch should be designed as a "dumb" terminal to a smartphone, although maybe with an interactive display so that you could move between pages of notifications/time/calendar from different apps.
So they've put the Start button back, but with no menu behind it. Is this actually what any of their users asked for?
Also, have they brought back the ability to select a logon domain via drop-down box instead of the god-awful DOMAIN/USERNAME combination that currently needs to be TYPED into the username box. How about the option to confirm on Shutdown/Reboot? Sure us uber-geeks who never mis-click won't need it but the vast majority of users are, almost by definition, not uber-geeks.
It's nonsense like this that makes me think MS really have given up on the enterprise.
I'm surprised no one here has mentioned DLP projectors. You know, the ones that use light reflected off a DMD and passed through a rotating colour wheel to produce a red, then a green, then a blue, then a white picture.
Those things drive me crazy. I'm fine so long as I sit sufficiently far back with my eyes motionless, looking at the centre of the screen, but if I move them even slightly, the rainbow effect becomes painfully clear.
This seems to be yet another negative side-effect of those of us with high-frequency light perception.
Right, let's get rid of lead in fuel. Why should the electronics industry be the only one to suffer from the over-zealous war on lead?
While the health effects of lead absorption are well understood, methods for absorption are not so much, and in the meantime we're substituting for it with stuff that is likely much worse. And making future generations pay with all the failed electronic devices we're throwing out in the meantime...
And this, boys and girls, is why we don't expand acronyms in-line.
While teenagers with aspergers like to snicker when someone says an apparently tautological phrase such as "PIN number", this wording helps clarify that we're talking about a Personal Identification Number, and not People In Need or Progressive Inflammatory Neuropathy.
Otherwise you end up with nonsensical pedantry: JPEG is just a group, IBM are machines, GIF, like PDF, is a format, PNG is a graphic, though only the latter two are portable.
No. Both are methods of compressing audio data for later playback, just with different trade-offs.
With MP3 of course you are losing fidelity, and with FLAC you are using more disk space and limiting the devices on which your audio data can be played back.
So while they are both different horses for different courses, but they both have the same goal - storage of audio, with data compression.
*blinks*
And you're... okay with this?
Wait, whoa, hold on there for a minute. Did you just say that incarcerated people in the USA do not get to vote?

Not Dot Matrix, as I had initially read it.
Personally, I think that a smartwatch should be designed as a "dumb" terminal to a smartphone, although maybe with an interactive display so that you could move between pages of notifications/time/calendar from different apps.
You mean like this?
Fair enough, and I support your stance, but what about theatres in general?
Will you not for example attend live performances or recitals in your locale?
I would say the topic (phones detracting from the main event) is as relevant there as in MPAA-backed motion pictures.
I thought that Apple already used name for their daemon that spys on its customers.
I'm more interested in the SmartWatch, which can be had right now for less than US$100.
You appear to be suggesting that there exists someone who isn't half insane and yet still stands a chance of winning a national election.
I'll believe that when I see it.
Really? How does it cope with unexpected obstructions on the track?
The current generation is taught through the education system a great deal about their rights, but very little about their responsibilities.
Consequently we get a very inward-focused generation with a false sense of self-entitlement and, rudeness in general.
I'd prefer to vote for someone who isn't half insane and has a chance to win some type of national election.
Wait, so which is it?
Not all of us are blessed with tunnel vision.

Anything to rid my friends and family's dependence on Skype(tm).
Sorry, I thought that was a lower-case l.
Good to know I'm not the only one who experiences this.

AFAIK that's just the start button that switches to the classic interface, but doesn't bring up an actual menu.
Umm, who said anything about Republicans? If you adhere to the two-party system, you are part of the problem.
In the specific case of not letting the NSA snoop on us, can't we just flag the US as damage and route around them?

This.
I see Apple sales declining further as a result of this.

Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC...
That's true. In much the same way that pure water is but ONE MOLECULE away from being SULFURIC ACID.
Pretty much, yes. She's awesome.
