    I, for one will opt out from this Boeing 737 version while they "figure out" what is wrong with the 737 Max.

    Yep - after CBS started playing commercials on their streaming service within TV shows that are available over-the-air I canceled my subscription. Only got it to watch Star Trek Discovery - and honestly it was the worst Trek yet! I've been a fan since the original show originally aired! I can live without this!

    CBS is a dinosaur in the modern content streaming era.
    I don't think they're capable stewards of the Star Trek franchise.

    The rule applies to credit card transactions, not debit card transactions. It's their money - you've only pinky-promised to pay back the debt.

    Oh it's way more than pinky promise. They'll come back for more than just a finger if you can't pay up. In the end it may cost you an arm and a leg.

    As a passenger in a vehicle that you're not controlling you may want to use excessive comments on the AI's actions and decisions in an attempt to control the vehicle. You may also want to tutor the AI in how to drive, for example comment on the speed of the vehicle, alternative directions, or to not let that other car get ahead of you.

    I agree. Assembly code, trap vectors, hardware interrupts, blitters, custom chips, etc. Exploring and figuring out how to use computers and their internals were difficult, time consuming, and ultimately very rewarding once you got it to work. Today's easy access to information for anything changed everything and IMHO killed some of the joys of exploration.

  14. Not only Apple phones are made abroad, Samsung and Google phones are as well. High tariffs on mobile phones would bring manufacturing jobs back to US. However higher mobile phone prices would probably prove to be very unpopular with people in general.

  16. I've heard the "density" statement so many times and I don't buy it.
    94.6+ percent of the United States is rural open space. Most of this space has no or little cell phone coverage.

    What matters most IMHO is to have great coverage with high quality in areas with high people density.
    However, even in most of the cities in US the mobile call quality and coverage is subpar compared to many European/Asian cities.

    I looked at current advertising costs to see whether $2/episode is justified. Right now advertisers pay about 3.3 cents to put an ad in the face of a 25-54 year-old adult during a prime-time show. In an hour-long show, there are about sixteen minutes of non-program material, though some of that is promotions for other shows and local advertising. Let's say that ten minutes of every prime-time hour includes national advertising. That means advertisers are willing pay about thirty cents per show; two dollars seems like gouging in comparison.

    Well Google must make money too. One dollar and seventy cents sounds like a more than reasonable fee to me.

    Yes, but people with passengers in the car WITH them actually recovers a bit from risk from what you would see with cell phones, as apparently passengers, during a tricky driving moment or such, know when to shut up or may even alert the driver to dangers in the road.

    You sir have obviously never driven with kids as passengers in a car. ;-)

    I've thought to myself many times before that I should move to a different registrar but I typically procrastinate. However this morning all the domains that I have registered were down due to GoDaddy's boo-boo and I've had it with them. A company that can afford to spend $2.4M for a superbowl commercial but can't properly handle a daylight savings change doesn't need my business.

    I just can't help thinking that the new Great Digital Wall of China will be as ineffective to stop the information flow as the old Great Wall of China was at stopping The Manchus around 400 years ago.
