    I love iTunes, ditched winamp for it when it first came out for windows.....howver I dont love it enough to ditch the REST of my PC software for a mac...

    I don't quite get the connection..as if iTunes will be a better experience on a mac or something?

    OH and being free helped ;p

    Aegis cruisers could certainly detect inbound missles and possibly intercept with SAMs or the railgun if it could track that quickly.

    anybody who can do triangulation with radios will know exactly where they are.

    Then what do you plan on doing? Assaulting the carrier battle group that the railgun equipped vessel would be a part of?

    Nearly every last adult male in Switzerland does compulsory military service and knows how to operate a SIG assault rifle, does he not? I'd say that's going a fair way towards being better at violence than your neighbor.

    I went from a 19" CRT at 350w to a 19" flat screen at 50w quite painlessly.

    No, it means the harder your plain jane phone will be to find.

    I didn't want a full color LCD (drains batteries) or a phone with useless background images or a million built in ring tones or any of that frilly stuff. Guess what, there ARENT any new phones that are "plain"

    What's more, for all its frills, it doesn't have the functionality to do a simple thing like vibrate, THEN ring. My old motorola, which is at least four - five years old, can.

    The writer just HAD to get their anti-MS jab in there didnt they. This is /. after all...

    At any rate, I'm no pro programmer, but I daresay adding virus defs to a file (seems alot like adding entries to a database to me) and patching a hole, which requires significantly more programming as well ast esting to make sure it doesnt break anything else or cause another vulnerability is much more difficult.

    If you have a clothing problem in public, do you usually look for a semi-private nook or side area to make your adjustment? That's an expectation of privacy, even at a small level.

    No it's not. If you are still on public property nothing stops anyone from walking by and seeing you. The only difference is that you moved to some place where it's not as likely to happen.

    How many users are going to simply go "Oh, damnit, this version of windows came without media player, I'll just hop on over to MS's website and download it then"
    as opposed to
    "Right there's no player on here so i'll search the internet and do some research and pick between iTunes Winamp WMP and..."

    People are still tolerating Win95 (usually becuase the computer in question is too much a POS to run anything newer) so i'd say, proably so.

    At the bookstore where I'm employed we utilize Ibid inventory/Point of Sale software, which is case sensitive. Capslock is basically always on, because our updates come to us with all information in caps and searches done in mixed case will fail

    It's AUTOMATIC. How much more intuitive does it get? Users simply don't care, as they can't make the mental connection between those updates (even though they are SECURITY UPDATES) and staying virus free

    I've never had an IE crash bring down XP. (then again I hardly use IE nowadays, but did for a year or two)

    Nor explorer, technically, though out of habit I reboot if it happens to die on me.
