  1. Re:North Carolina just settled a class action laws on Microsoft CA Settlement Claim Forms Hit Mailboxes · · Score: 2, Insightful

Given that Apple has so much of a huge market share in schools,

I realize I live out in the backwoods (of north caorlina no less) but in all my years of public schooling i never saw one apple in a school or community college lab.

Note to apple: Your products are expensive. Many many schools do not have money to throw around. Perhaps big city schools can afford to get apple only labs...but smaller ones often cannot. And there is a lot of backwoods between the east and west coast.

iTunes for windows asks, however in the first release it was checked by default when it really wasn't clear what exactly was going to happen. Personally I have no problem with it organizing my mp3s based on ID3 tags, but I dislike the fact that it renamed all my songs to exclude artist name.

Latest windows release, its unchecked by default

I don't reallly have a blog, as such, but my domain does have a PHP site that has galleries of my photographs which viewers are able to comment on. Lately i've been getting spam from people who apparently randomly find my site and decide they have to leave their mark (much like dogs leave their marks on bushes)

my solution? Have MySQL log IP addresses along with the comment submission. My intended audience is so small I know the majority of the viewers personally, and thus have no issue walling off an entire ISP ( after reporting that IP address to said ISP's abuse dept)

I listen to bands like Blind Guardian, Nightwish, Genitorturers and Stratovarius. So far I see none of those available for me to buy. The only bands i noticed that i actually would be interested in purchasing were old time swing names like Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey.

Peddling mainstream stuff is a great way to get Apple to make a profit, but it will not get very much money from me.

  15. My take on iTunes on iTunes for Windows Reviews · · Score: 1

So far the only major problems i've found with iTunes are when I try to swap CDs...iTunes refuses to aknowlege that the old CD has been removed and a new one inserted...wont play new tracks, won't hit CDDB for new information. Nor will it shut down gracefully, I have to use task manager to kill it.

second bug: If iTunes encoutners an mp3 with a header that says it is zero-length, it crashes without any sort of warning, and without saving whatever importing was done up to that point.

Aside from that, I'm satisfied with it. On the other hand, I read ahead enough to know not to let it tinker with my music library ahead of time...numerous windows users have been burned by the thing trying to 'reorganize' and ending up with near useless mp3 names.

iTUnes itself takes over 20 megs of ram
