Well I have let my two sisters kids live here for a bit for school purposes (community college within 1/4 mile or so). They had been running up some massive long distance bills, now with VOIP over my cable modem it costs me 29.99 a month to let em have at it all they like instead of trying to stop some of their calls that previously added up to well over a hundred dollar phone bill on a fairly regular basis.
Even maintaining a single POTS line with no long distance for emergency purposes basically i'm making out pretty well on the deal.
wont complete an errorless install with any virtual drive programs installed, "atapi.sys" troubles for me (alcohol 120% here, but apparently daemon tools does the same), can't even disable a process from task manager to stop the error, either uninstall the program or tell it to continue installing while ignoring the error... i am a bit adventurous and all but i just have to say no when it comes to a brand new sp that is erroring during the install for now.
probably something that will get fixed and become interoperable before too long anyways, but for now I wouldn't rush into grabbing the couple hundred megs if you run any virtual drives
if i wanted to replace a head gasket i would have to drill and re-tap my friggin engine block to do so, always good to make the walls of a engine block thinner right?
and how friggin hard would it be to drill for some parts that are allready ridiculously hard to get to in newer cars.
i'll stick to the classics that one can at least work on thank you very much;)
XBL has a nice little feature called "optimatch" it pretty much lets you search for games with people of higher, lower, or similar skill levels as yourself. It's pretty handy for finding a game you would feel competitive in.
The whole time this has been ongoing the people have been saying "show us the code", now they are starting to do just that. As I recall there was a very similar correlation between Unix and BSD a long while back, the end result was some offending code being removed and the case being over with no other real repercussions.
Forget the zealotry of we are right and they are wrong, why not look at the code they now show to be infringing and just get rid of (or change) it?
Legal precedent is on the side of this action being the correct one (from my somewhat foggy memories)
Where to start. The 800 MHz G4 is faster than a 2GHz AMD processor. In certain tests it even beats a 4GHz Pentium4
So where do we find these mythical 4 GHz P4's? I could really use a few more points in my system benchmarks, but no matter how hard I try, I keep failing to locate them so far;)
Reading your views on taxes, you seem to be a backer of the Keynesian economic theory, you are also for spending as fast as you take it in i.e.
We need to strive towards a system of universal health care similar to Vermont's. We can't allow millions of children to remain without basic insurance,
I have no basic gripes with any of your other issues, but how can you provide this healthcare without cutting budget elsewhere, getting any sort of cut by our states current legislature is a task of epic proportions, as will be running any succesfull campaign based on tax raises...
I may like most of your ideas, and in fact do like them more than any other candidates' proposed ideas so far. Tell me though, we all know this will be a throw-away vote of sorts without a miracle from above, and while principles are great, what makes you so special that i should be willing to forgo a meaningfull vote to make a point (definitely no offense intended here, i really do love your stance on many issues), how can my beliefs lining up with yours make a difference?
I can't even understand how my reply even got modded up, since I meant the Sony Ericcson got a similar rating and cost less when i stated the "nextel" did. I totally screwed my reply up somehow...
But my main point still remains the same, it's ratings for "fit" is higher than the Bluespoon, I would assume that "fit" encompasses comfort, and if it is more comfortable then that is good enough for me (though this is an obviously subjective thing and may vary from person to person)
Anyways the most interseting part of this whole topic is that the original page has now been changed to include price in their comparison. Wonder if Howard Chui might not be a/. reader?
he refers to it as a "16x9 screen TFT LCD screen" while his linked article clearly describes it as "16:9" (i.e. aspect ratio), that colon has a far different meaning than an "x"
it is in reality a 4.5" TFT LCD with a 16:9 aspect ratio.
So no, this thing will most likely be nothing like the laptop size some seem to be suggesting.

Microsoft's Patent Problem
·
· Score: 4, Interesting
Let's face it, this may be a 'small' company putting the boot in, but it's a 'small' company owned (mostly) by Sony. Patents still only help those with very deep warchests.
Lots of different ways to look at this case, and frankly i'm not sure exactly where my opinion on it stands just yet.
But this idea you floated about the litle guy making nothing off patents is clearly wrong. These were little guys who came up with their patents a while ago, they later sold rights to them to Sony and Phillips for 453 million dollars who are now trying to make the "big score" on their investment. If you ask me, the 453 mill "sure thing" they got was far from a pittance to a company of their size (even if Sony does make billions off it, they took a gamble with that 453 that they could have possibly lost)
the thing is , just how do they conclude what the value of what any one item is. I personally don't even have much against the copyright laws the NET Act tries to enforce.... it's the way it is worded.
If you offer up one song, are you then responsible for the value of the copy of that song anyone who downloaded it from you then shares as well? It's impossible to tell really.
How the heck do they come up with things like: (NET Act)
if the offense consists of the reproduction or distribution of 1 or more copies or phonorecords of 1 or more copyrighted works, which have a total retail value of more than $1,000;
if the offense consists of the reproduction or distribution of 10 or more copies or phonorecords of 1 or more copyrighted works, which have a total retail value of $2,500 or more;
obviously listing them in such a way implies that there are single CD's approaching the $1000 value limit or 10 approaching $2500, otherwise the numbers would not be so correlated... just how do they conclude these values, obviously it's not based on the pricetag you would pay for a single CD at Tower Records. Why not layout exactly how the value of a "phonorecord" is determined since it seems that the simple method of checking manufacturers suggested retail price is not the method.
The law would even be fairly acceptable if it weren't so vague, I always have condoned the theory that ignorance of it is no excuse for breaking the law, but frankly you could read this law over and over and still not know exactly what point you would have broken it at.
This is the inherent nature of bittorrent - it simply works better on connetions where you get equal upload and download.
Almost everyone with broadband in the U.S. has an asymetric line though, for me to get a somewhat decent SDSL line would cost upwards of $150 a month, seems a steep price to pay to get the most out of BT when my cable line works great for many other apps (specifically E-Tree FTP's and Furthur) with it's 2Mb/256kb caps at about $40 a month
When dressing for battle in the so-called "Scorpion ensemble," soldiers will don no more than 50 pounds, making them much more mobile than today's troops, who carry up to 120 pounds of gear, Birch said.
Don't know how well all of the ideas they have will actually work, but finding a way to halve the weight a soldier packs is certainly appealling.
I too have absolutely no complaints about Dell's rebate program. Have spotted a few great deals on Dell's at FatWallet that were heavily rebate dependent and they have always worked out smoothly. No need to ever call and ask what the problem is or anything, the check just shows up by the date it's supposed to.
Would definitely be nice if other companies handled their rebate promotions in the same manner

Guess it depends on each persons situation

oh come on, you get a free "spot the feds" t-shirt in return for having your own file opened by the govt. ;)
that list is scary, if the Senate Majority Leader and the Minority Leader are both for it this crap is a done deal....
thanks for those links my friend, hadn't even heard about the whole deal, but thanks to you I now have the whole album to enjoy at my leisure!
Funny, I wouldn't think that any alcohol would be associated with stiffness...

Never got a hot girl liquored up enough to say "yes" i'm guessing?

The Nextel gets ratings that are as good as the Bluespoon and comes in at about a third of the price ;)
Now we're going to need tinfoil gloves to go with our hats!

less confusing display specs here
Since they were going to need all the space for the other stuff anyway, I'm glad they opted to tack on the massive 16x9 inch screen.
Actually it's a 16:9 aspect ratio i believe, not 16"x9", looks to be a 4.5" TFT LCD, 16:9 Widescreen with Backlit

Interesting look at the situation, albeit in the situation 3 years ago.
