  1. Re:Good on Fun with Fingerprint Readers · · Score: 1

I apolgize, my facts were not well based, or well formed. I am glad people are able to hack the fingerprint things. I don't live in california, and get a life, most of slashdot doesn't! I meant to say only criminals, (or suspects) have fingerprints on file at the Police station. The database of the police department doesn't connect to others I know.

  2. Good on Fun with Fingerprint Readers · · Score: 0, Flamebait

Fingerprints are too private. Any method used by the police is to private for a grocery store to have. As it is, only criminals have fingerprints on file, after a few years, they'll be trying to get EVERYONE on file.

256mb ram and 1 GHZ g4, for $3000. It's a rack server, but I got more power than that in a $700 athlon. I wouldn't be complaining if it was $1500 (over twice the cost), but really, I'd much rather have a sun box (proven, fast) for $3000 than an apple.

People have suggested ways that will work, in fact, I've even suggested ways that will work! The stupid lazy programmers complain about bandwidth and too many processes and call you names. A system to stop spam would be hard to run, and that's why there aren't any now. (My ISP uses a dul, but I get PLENTY of spam.)

I don't think there are many people that spam per message sent, what we need to do is block by domains, not ip addresses, and anything that doesn't resolv gets blocked. It would work, but it would probably be too expencive, unless the lazy administrators are just lying to me.

Well, it depends on who you ask. According to SGI, it's OpenGL 1.3, but a few companies call it openGL 2.0. OpenGL 1.3 does have some impressive advantages, so it doesn't really matter. Remember, OpenGL isn't just specifications, it's a library, and it works a lot better than directx releases.
