I'm 2 years running into my 20 gig Xbox 360 unit. I really wish Microsoft would reduce the hard drive add-on prices to more realistic levels. The casing around the HD can't cost THAT much. It would almost be better to just buy the new slim unit(that has over 10 times the hard drive space I have) than to buy the 250 gig drive alone.
I could buy a 1 terabyte drive for my system for less than they charge for a 120 gig unit.
Any reason why Chrome for Linux has so many problems reaching Gmail? I have to try over & over again to reach it, yet it works just fine everywhere(OS & browser-wise) else.
If e360 doesn't like Spamhaus, then don't use it!:)
Also, e360 should tell all of its customers that in order to receive the 6 billion+ emails, that they should not use SpamHaus on their mail servers. Oh, wait....
Wasn't there a case back of some company that made anti-spyware software that got sued by a company because their sw was labeled malware?
It's amazing how fast spammers can adapt to new media, websites, etc.
Last time I tried using it, just about 60% of the users I connected with just had a video on loop trying to advertise a website. Until chatroulette ups their game(accounts, captchas, etc), it's going to quickly fade out.
XSANE should never be made available. The GUI is a complete mess, looking like something that belongs on the Amiga. Also, it has yet to work with a single scanner or webcam I throw at it.
If some individual did it, they would be in jail for a very long time. Thankfully, a 'corporation' did it, which can blame any # of people internally. Thus, no jail time for IBM. It will probably be handled in a private manner(ie nothing).
Funny you should mention that. I too had a system that would just randomly power off, as if someone pulled the plug. After replacing the power supply and just about everything else, I just replaced the mainboard & processor & called it a day. It was getting old anyway.
But I thought the reset switch would leave the system on & just reboot, not power down. Not even the soft power switch does an instant shutoff, unless you hold it down & it goes through the motions.
If YouTube wasn't so slow(in the past 8 months), I would chuckle. But when I'm at home(Comcast) the loading of videos is dialup-level slow. I can no longer realtime-stream videos, and Youtube's code doesn't handle stalled loading well, where you can't pause it.
It seemed a bit faster last night with the new GUI though, for how ugly it is.
"...it's actually quite interesting. I have a feeling that the folks who are looking to see child porn charges pressed might actually get their way. According to the"
And knowing the IQ of most DAs in matters like this, the students will be pressed with charges of distributing, but the watchers won't be charged with anything.
The Lego Star Wars sets showed a direction of reducing over-specialized pieces. Sure, there's going to be a unique Yoda figure, etc, but the vehicles, etc weren't that bad. They could have gone overboard with specialized pieces for wings, etc, but didn't. Take a look at the Imperial Shuttle. Looks real nice.
I'm still using a HP zd7000, a P4 laptop from several years ago as my main PC. The battery has long since died, but it's still perfect for general use with the docking station.
I've considered plunking down $300 for a modern laptop, but it never seemed to be an issue. This laptop is still "good enough".
..don't watch it. I don't like how people think they can call changes to SW eps 1-3. As soon as you start making changes(remove Jar Jar, etc) it ceases to become Lucas' artwork, and moreso a "design by committee". Sure, this happens in meetings for filmmakers all the time, but I don't see how the fans have a say in someone else's art.
I did this back in 1996. I was wardialing, and found somebody's open PcAnywhere connection. So I connected to it and attempted to play Solitaire over 33.6 dialup. Needless to say, it was a pain dragging those cards around.
I like how huffingtonpost.com's article consists of 99% widgets & advertising and 1% actual content. I actually had to scrounge around the page to find the content. If your content is buried in non-content, it's time to redesign your site.
It varies. I bought a bargain-basement DVD that my regular DVD player(advent) wouldn't play right, but the PS2 with the same disc played it without a problem.
Anyone remember Mondo 2000? I bought & read issues of that, but looking back, it was just pure performance art garbage. I swear that magazine tried to worship anyone related to The WELL in every issue. Oooh! Circuit bending! Ooh! My life on a webcam! Boy did that get old.
On my older IBM Linux system I use as a server, Firefox is sluggish, and Chrome is plain 'ol fast. My only gripe is that the fonts are offset a bit too low, since I strayed from Ubuntu's default font settings. But with the speed being actually usable(no keyboard delays, etc), I'm more than happy with this over firefox.
Yesterday morning, my system started up saying a new version of Acrobat reader was available. HOWEVER, reader_Sl.exe couldn't be found on my reader dir, plus I had it disabled in msconfig in the Startup tab.
How the hell did this thing startup? Adobe doesn't seem to make it easy to disable any pre-loader app on startup. Why does every software company insist on jamming this crap on everyone's system?
I would love to see Symnatec, etc list this as malware. After all, same symptoms(drains system resources), and was added w/o user consent, nor is it easy to remove.
I see a privacy option(before the change) of "friends of friends". can someone clarify it? Does this mean if I'm A, and I'm friends with B, and B is friends with C, C can see mine(A's) stuff? Or does it go deeper in the degrees of separation? Need to clarify.

Now PSN can release the Virtual Boy back catalog! Everyone's been clamoring for that!
"Then the grammar nazi's would be up their ass asking them to change it so as to reflect that 'shat' is a verb conjugation and not a noun."
Where's the punctuation SS when you need them?

It's called the "person you are talking to coughs & suddenly dies" mechanism on the phone. Yes, the canary has been made obsolete.
Will people be moving their houses around parking lots to scan for open Wifi spots?

We must have had 20 different ways to get to goatse.cx.

This is slashdot. Half the acronyms posted to the news headers are lost on me.
