I really hope Nick got some money in exchange for agreeing to terminate his site. In any case, thank you for your years of work on behalf of the Mac community, Nick.
There's less protection for debit cards than credit cards. I think that with debit cards they may make you jump through more hoops before restoring your lost funds. So I'd change your pin.
Courts don't honor C&D letters. C&Ds are sent to meet the requirement of giving notice to a party before filing suit against said party. You may be thinking of an injunction.
Oh, and btw, you should thank fascist rep Conyers and the Democratic Congress for this gem. Not that Republicans are much better, but no one ever seems to blame the Dems for their evils.
1) This is also a violation of the 7th Amendment's right to jury trial.
2) This is different from the fish poaching example because poaching is done outside of one's home. This would be unlawful search and seizure within one's home and thus a direct violation of the 4th Amendment.
I think it's necessary for those who are in decision making positions step out from behind the shadows and start making decisions in a more transparent way as part of some sort of formal Wiki council. It doesn't make sense for such a popular public resource to be controlled behind the scenes without any mechanism available to promote responsibility and accountability of the powers involved. And while I'm on the subject, am I the only one who absolutely detests the name Jimbo?
Jobs usually gets things right, but if this report is true Jobs is pursuing a nonstarter. He wants to make it easier for people to put their DVD collections in iTunes, but there are so many problems with this proposed solution it's doomed to failure. 1) Anyone who wants to time-shift their DVD collection already does it, albeit to the chagrin of the MPAA; 2) The MPAA would never go for any format that is devoid of some copy protection; 3) The MPAA doesn't want to strengthen Apple any more than it currently is; 4) This compromise would only really mean something if it were applied to HD-DVD and Blu-ray, which we know will never happen.
By the right time do you mean in your counter suit? That's the only time I can think of that would matter to bring forth your initial counter arguments.
signals to me that the format is in deep trouble. If they didn't feel this move could be interpreted as being a negative for UMD, they wouldn't have defended it.
I'd be mighty upset with the Crown right now. Perhaps this will serve as a cautionary example to other countries who are considering going down similar paths as far as lack of privacy is concerned.
it was a stupid idea to sue university students, especially universities with law schools.
I thought they shut down a very similar database recently. Upon hearing the news someone here said it would reappear soon enough. True dat.

The PPC zealot in me first read the headline as "Ubuntu 7.10 PowerPCs."
Now with 10 times the explosive power.

We can just phish the phishers and get a lot of money back!

I just got a PS1 and I'm as mad as hell over this announcement.
It can be signed using an EULA!

ESRB ratings sound so pathetically lame. Why not just use MPAA style ratings, which everyone likes (unless they're also copyrighted or something). . .
I thought Face Book was largely a college-age thing. Why would you and your coworkers be using it?
EEE? Triple E PC? What's with the name (i.e. what does it signify)?
Another piece of New Jersey legislation requires business owners to disclose to the public whether or not they have ties to organized crime.

Anyone know what makes the OS too complicated to run on today's most sophisticated hardware?
start pumping out repetitive franchise sports titles and make tons of money off of gullible people who blindly buy brand names. Oh, wait. . .
Wait a second, Al Gore isn't president.
it caught a glimpse of a Transformer.
