    now why does that make me think of the Higgs boson ? That's supposed to be what gives mass to other stuff, right ?

    Maybe dark matter is clouds of Higgs bosons, and after the LHC manages to detect them, we'll find better ways of detecting them and suddenly find where all this dark matter stuff is.

    Or not, of course. I'm just pulling that out of my ass, after all.

    Relatively constant, yes, but constant at a much lower level than hard drives - there's nothing that needs to keep spinning.

    I'm no expert, but I imagine you need to keep few things beyond the cache under power.

    I already unlearned that behaviour years ago; but just today, I installed an out-of-browser gmail checker so I can keep my browser closed when I don't need it, in hopes of reducing temptation from gmail as well as /. and other devilish sites.

    I still need my browser too much for other stuff, though, so the temptation to quickly parse the rss feeds for new stuff is still there. I have a long way to go :-)

    The real question is, how long will it take until someone writes a computer virus that infects another, common virus ?

    That could then, in turn, lead to botnet wars, where hackers write virophage viruses to try and take control over another's botnet.

    And then we'll get Botnet Wars on telly :-)

    Monkey Island, Indiana Jones, ... I must've gone through them dozens of times, over the years. No,they're not right-now replayable, but they haven't lost a single bit of their charm and playability.

    Yep. I haven't been much into Zelda, not having much of a console history, but I got a Wii, and Twilight Princess has been one of the most enjoyable adventures I've played in a long time. I've recently gotten access to a DS as well, and I'm looking forward to playing Phantom Hourglass on that.

    Such a package is indeed a matter of convenience, so I'm willing to leave that to personal preference; but I will keep insisting that no package should touch conffiles unasked.
