"The ideal outcome for us is when this technology becomes instrumental in saving lives."
Ideally that is. At least until it crashes and kills someone.
Ever seen a large firetruck have a head-on with some driver too oblivious to flashing lights and sirens to get out of the way? I have - and it's not pretty. I think we should follow your advice and ban all firetrucks from use on public roads - someone might get hurt, you know.
Five years ago I would have said I trusted the government to basically do the right thing, most of the time. With Bush openly defying the constitution because he wants to, I'm not so sure anymore.
I guess we should just let the New York Times and friends run this operation - since you apparantly trust everything they allude to about what is constitutional or not.
Why do think people hire lobbyists instead of appealing to politicians directly?
For the same reason people don't like making their own sausage - they have the same lack of stomach (ha!) for grinding pig intestines that they do for placing a hundred thousand bucks in the politician's reelection fund.
Of course he would say he was human. If the characer never knew that he was a replicant, why tell the actor? It makes the performance more authentic if the actor doesn't know either.
Well, I didn't think Mr. Gore's performance in the debates was that wooden... oh wait.
Even if the workers are illegal they are paying taxes so that's at least a good thing.
Then why is it that Texas, which has no personal income tax, but gathers their revenue via a sales tax, has a far less illegal alien problem than California, which has one of the highest income taxes of the states, but a lower sales tax?
The actual problem are the employers hiring illegals and paying them under the table.
The problem is we have created a system where taxes are collected by employers, and not via some sort of sales tax system that all must participate in. This makes criminals out of people wanting to do something as simple as hire a babysitter.
This problem exists because we try to milk the "rich" (those who receive more than the average) for more of taxes than the rest of us.
When it comes to corporate welfare the government has historically been very generous.
Elected officials have always been generous in spending our money to buy our vote - but they can be swayed with the right incentives - take a peek at the deductions by law for a business allowed for buying a vehicle exceeding 6000 pounds gross weight (i.e., large SUVs, made by those manufacturers who didn't make an effort to control their labor costs - i.e GM, etc.). That allowed annual deduction is $25,000 - versus any other vehicle at a couple thousand bucks. Riddle me how that is fair to business in making smart business decisions, vice wasteful ones.
it's been shown in our in-house studies that really annoying ads work better than ones that are not
Only in the (very) short term. Sure they get noticed - long enough to make people look for ways to block them - or simply go spend their time (and money) elsewhere.
Cut your losses. Take the blackberry service out of the US.
Thank God you're not the guy in charge of insuring shareholder value for RIM - you know - the people that own the company - yeah, they bought it, with their own evil money. Wanna see how far an $80 stock price can fall when you remove the source of the majority of its revenue? Wanna see if it makes any difference to a Canadian company if a US court rules against 'em? Think the Canucks are gonna send the mounties to the border, or enforce the US ruling? Really hard to figure out why you'll never run a major corporation.
I am of the opinion that since we only have one history and whatever is lost can NEVER be replaced, any destruction of our heritage should be treated as a crime of extreme seriousness

Because Microsoft has never been punished for doing so.
After this, how could one have faith enough to serve an inept institution?
Why do we need all the editorializing in the blurb?
You must be new here.

Oh yeah? Well, I'm gonna go build my own software! With blackjack! And hookers! In fact, forget the software!

They got tired of not being elected by those who like having their vote bought.

He wouldn't be getting any money if people didn't want to buy what he was selling, now would he?
Well, if you quit - then you've certainly lost.
