But is is! The second is defined to be such-and-such 10 to the power of something of the half life time of this radioactive element.
In 1967, scientists agreed to define the second as that period of time which makes the frequency of a certain radiation emitted by atoms of cesium-133 equal to 9 192 631 770 hertz (cycles per second). In other words, if we really want to measure a second, we count 9 192 631 770 cycles of this radiation.
The meter is defined by anchoring the value of c (velocity of light in vacuum) to 299792458 m/s. Check this link for more info.
Actually, I did -- I searched through the options on pine and didn't find where I could have it randomly choose a sig, so i wrote a shell script to do this, then call pine. Works quite nicely. I've even bothered to update it once in a while.
There is an option to do that! PINE allows you to use a script as your signature. Simply use "~/mysig.pl|" as your signature and then do the sig selection in the script. Works like a charm!
The W3C recommendation does not mention <LINK TYPE="prefetch"> as a link type, but it is allowed to add new link types. The W3C recommends adding a profile attribute to the <HEAD> element to sepcify this.
The API is cross-platform. This specific theme is designed to use OS-native widgets As stated in the FAQ, the theme uses the OSX Appearance Manager to render the theme, and thus is designed only for OSX.
Actually, I watch TV only when I feel like it. I don't have cable, so I we get only TWO channels, and only one of these has anything good on. My mother tapes a few programs I watch, and once in a while I watch an entire season in a row. I only watch live TV when there's important news (and as I live in Israel, it's more often than most places).
They can still proxy HTTPS. The user will access the great firewall with HTTP and the firewall will make the HTTPS connection. HTTPS doesn't help here.
At the Haifa(Israel) Linux Club, we meet in a classroom of the local technological institute, which we get for free (including a windows PC+Internet with projector, and ability to connect laptop). The faculty agrees to help, as several club members are TAs or employees of the faculty.

I'm just trying out dasher to type tis comment and it seems real cool. OPne problem is that you cant go back and fix your mistakes like the "H" I missed and a missing period...
What are the chances NASA will send up STS 108 on schedule?
100%, STS-108 was already sent. Next mission scheduled is STS-114. STS-107 was delayed several times, for over two years before launch.
The code votes for perl in the current poll.
An interesting read about the copyright bargain is found on gnu.org.
Ha'aretz (Israeli newspaper) has written about this before Cnet. More info available there (In English!).
Hebrew version is also available.
In AntiTrust, they used 10.x.x.x addresses for "sattelites". I found it cute they were so clued in...

Filter out everything. Better still, disconnect them from the network entirely :)...
it comes with Pico, which I think is the most cool, kickass little text editor
Pico sucks! No search&replace, no multi-file support. No general block manipulation. No line number without keypress. Yuck!
I use PINE all the time with enable-alternate-editor-explicitly and with joe!

When you're on the go, give PINE a call ;-)
Don't know about you, but I use PINE as my only e-mail client everywhere. It's better than Netscape mail and all others I have tried...
You don't have to form a for-profit company. Form a non-profit orgnization for the production of software. It's much cheaper and you get tax benefits.
Don't write it here! Submit it to bugzilla! I suggest using this bug: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17199

Too many windows NT/2K/XP users have one administrator user called "administrator" with no password. Very very easy to guess...
If you're running on i386, you've got a solution.

Someone actually send me an e-mail asking me how to accelerate his computer using windows.
I replied with the following:
1) Open window
2) Pick up computer
3) Throw computer out of windows
4) Viola - 9.8m/s^2 acceleration!
Actually, it will work even better making the command a script that will notify the admin and then kill the server at a given time, e.g.
.bugtraq | at 00:00 GMT
echo 'See http://whatever' |mail -s 'YOUR SYSTEM IS HACKED' root; echo killall -9
